Alg had insisted they, at the very least, leave the cavern they'd found before trying anything. They'd walked inland, found an empty stretch of grass, and spread out their discoveries. It was also a good place for soil and plant matter. Seeds wouldn't necessarily be needed with magic involved, not so long as they had plants around.

Adze had spread things out for them, rare stones of various kinds, even a few that looked to be fossils or simply off formations.

Shun nodded as he picked out one stone, as well as a bit of foliage. He closed his eye as he began to focus, trying to see if he could get the plant to start taking root.

Though he was focusing, it wasn't quite enough. And he had to stop as he could feel an ache building up in his head.

Alg had been arranging one of the stones, pushed soil into it's edges and pressed some greenery into it. With concentration on making it take root he attempted to imbue it with his magic.

Unfortunately he was left where he started, with nothing much at all.

Shun tried to rearrange his pieces a bit first. Maybe that will help the plants take root. After a moment or so, he went ahead and begun to concentrate once more.

He tried, and he tried. But it seemed the materials just refused to take the magic right now.

"Damn things..."

Alg added another stone, hoping that multiple may merge and make a better vessel. It seemed to work. The datolite and staurolite seemed to merge into a bigger piece and shift with his magic.

The plants seemed to take root as well, and while they didn't grow, he'd created something promising.

"It's a start.." The professor smiled.

Shun looked over at Alg as he had managed to get something to actually take root. It was a good first start. Nodding to the older man, he moved over to where he was and held a hand out before the thing. He tried to imbue it further with magic.

It didn't like his magic, unfortunately.

"The consent testing was a bit easier.." Alg shared, "But we got it down."

He worked further on the piece he'd created, further attempting to imbue it with energy but it simply wasn't working.

"Perhaps we should engrave the symbol in it. The earth symbol we found in our research.."

"Not a bad idea."

Shun looked for a good surface upon the stone, then began to try and etch the symbol into the rock with magic.

It started to work. But he overdid it. A crack appeared in the stone, extending from a part of the engraving.

"s**t."

Alg didn't give up so easily, instead using the crack and putting more soil in it.

"We can use this.." He pressed his hand to it, and the symbol, and with a strong concentration of magic it sprung to life and seemed to grow, wrapping around their stones effectively.

"Ha! Almost there I think.."

"Good work."

That was rather resourceful of Alg. Taking his mistake and using it to strengthen the object further. Taking in a deep breath, Shun continued to try and etch in the symbol.

And another crack appeared.

"Oh for ******** sake."

Again Alg seemed to use the foible to their benefit and with more of his magic the plants gree further, twisting and forming almost bark around the stones. It was becoming an impressive bit of work with the magic absorbing into the stones and in turn being fed into the soil and plants.

The professor let out a breath at his success, "Almost done."

At least Shun wasn't actually breaking this thing.

With the etching done, he just went to try and power this with some magic. He focused on earth. Nature. Life. That sort of stuff, to try and imbue it with those feelings.

After a few moments, the engraving, along with some of the other smaller cracks in the stone began to give off a green glow.

"Aha!" Alg laughed a bit, "There we go."

They'd officially created an earth aligned material. The rocks merged and glowed, the plants sprouting from the cracks and coiling up around impressively. It seemed to maintain itself, and held in hand it actually felt alive.

"Good work.." He then glanced to his fetch, "Adze, please go on ahead to the court and please alert Silk or her companions that we will be coming." He didn't want to hear about his 'manners' the second time around.

Adze bowed and excused himself to do just that.
