As long as Alg had a surface his feet could find purchase on, his floating worked so after another short wait he came bobbing up over the edge until his feet settled in the mouth of the cave. Adze was busy brushing off his own suit (with a brush he produced from nowhere), not moving to do anything to help nor venture into the cave until Algie was present.

Upon reaching the ledge electricity sparked to life in the professor's hands and cast a blue-white crackling light throughout the cave in front of them.

"May as well head in.. Who knows what could live in here."

With a low grunt, Shun pulled himself up onto the ledge. He dusted himself off once he was up there, then peered over at Alg as he joined him. While he could see in the dark, he couldn't discern colors without light, so the older man's bit of light was still nice.

If something was lurking in here, perhaps his shadow eye would be able to pick up on it more than his normal vision.

"Agreed. On your guard," he nodded as he slowly made his way in. He kept a sharp eye out, not just for signs of something else being in here, but for any bits of minerals or foliage that might be of use.

Alg walked slow, measured, and conversation seemed to be at a minimum. He had questions for the other, about the murder attempt maybe, but..

"Why were you acting weird.. lately?" He'd been told just how odd but unexplained. He wasn't acting differently now though. This was the usual Shun if not more concerned overall.

"Does this murder business have anything to do with it?" The professor scanned the walls for anything out of the ordinary but so far it was simply dark stone.

Shun paused at that question, and his fingers twitched a bit at the memory. He would have preferred if that could just be forgotten.

"If you are talking about my behavior before I had vanished... that is unrelated. I was infected with an Other Creature known as a veilworm. It caused me to act differently and be susceptable to a for of mind control by a creature named Ixodi," he deadpanned. When he thought he saw something of note, he moved to pick it up, taking a moment to look it over.

Curiosity pushed Alg alone a bit further, wondering what these caves could so them. Secret caverns? Old mines? Abandoned criminal hideouts?

Or just a bunch of rocks.

"For what purpose? Did it have you doing anything in particular?" Alg glanced at Shun with the explanation and also to whatever he'd picked up. He moved a crackling hand closer for better lighting.

There was a little bit of glinting from the stone he picked up, though Shun wasn't really sure what it was, even with the light. He offered it to Alg for examination.

"It wanted my blood. A few others had been taken as well for this purpose. From my understanding, it wanted to take down the court and was experimenting with blood magic to empower it."

"Christ," Alg cursed to Shun's description of the events. "Just what we need, in addition to everything else."

Adze collected the stone after Alg and Shun both looked at it and put it into a bag. He picked up a few things here and there, including scrapings of what looked like moss or lichen off the cave walls.

"And they think the court must go.." Adze tutted a bit, though his opinion wasn't asked for, "when such dangerous beings are able to strike."

Alg frowned, "No political debate Adze." The fetch bowed a light apology.

The further they went the more the cave opened up and soon found themselves in what some would call a cavern. It didn't look like much but further inspection granted them more clusters of stone and off-color seams in the cave walls.

They would have plenty of possibilities.

Shun raised his brow at the fetch in the room. He wasn't really sure what the general stance of the fetches were with the court, but he imagined a number of them were in favor of it.

Turning his attention back to the task at hand, he looked around at the various off-color seams in the wall and approached one of them. With a tilt of his head, he called the shadow dagger to his hand to try and chip away a chunk of the rock.

"Everything is in such a s**t storm right now," he grumbled under his breath, "I doubt it is going to get much better anytime soon, too."

"Things are out of balance," Between the flow of magic and the broken sigil and the charter no longer representing what everyone wanting, "And the longer it stays such, the more these things will happen."

Even as they worked towards a new charter he wondered if the end result would define things in a way that satisfied the majority. Alg crouched to turn over a larger stone, the back half of it smooth and imprinted with an odd shape. He picked it up and handed it to Adze as well, letting the fetch pack it away.

"I'd like to maybe get some soil or seeds to go with this as well, before we start experimenting..." They may be able to make something truly unique by the time all was said and done.

Shun nodded to Alg, "Not sure if we can pick up seeds here, but finding some good ones should not be difficult back on the other side."

And soil wasn't going to be difficult to find either.

At the thought of things being out of balance, he just let out a light sigh. The whole purge thing Jeremiah had mentioned certainly made things difficult for them all to figure out what the ******** they were supposed to be doing. It was hard to tell what the right path was with all of this.

His fingers tapped against some sort of greenish quartz jutting from a rock as well as what surrounded them.

"I think is a good gathering point," They'd already found some things while here, "We'll gather here and then, if you still feel inclined, when he work on the magic end of this somewhere a bit more open."

There was always the chance their preliminary attempts went haywire.

Shun nodded as he picked up one more thing, then made his way to Algernon.

"The tricky bit is actually making things out of these anyway," he said.

But since they were both relatively experienced with that process, perhaps it wouldn't be too bad.

"Shall we begin?"
