So, they were doing this. Not a new thought, and would be utterly ridiculous to say aloud. Mera knew that they were 'doing it', being in the competition, as a fact the moment she and Afryse both successfully signed up at the Chittentown sign-up station. Of course. She remembered it clearly and everything. But facts could be different from feelings, she had found as time went on. It was one thing to acknowledge, but another to process. Mera wasn't sure if she could explain it too well. But they had the receipts and the memories that, yes, they had joined a competition. Together. However, it wasn't until that she started looking over potential sponsors that the whole thing really began to sink in. Oh, my god. They were doing this.
The two of them were going to dedicate real time, real effort, to an inevitably televised competition with some amount of stakes to it. And also, a bit of strategy. The obvious starting plan was 'don't say anything stupid on TV'. She felt that was easy enough to prepare for. Memorization and rehearsal. There would have to be a lot of that in their future. Preparation, preparation, preparation. It was almost overwhelming to think about on its own. At the same time, a plan of action was absolutely exhilarating in its own way.
In the meantime, before any of the real glitz and glimmer or cameras in their faces, they had to figure out sponsorship. That itself felt like a game of wits. They had to find good matches, and not be the desperate lot who just asked anyone to back them. More than that, they had to know how to talk to these trolls and win them over. A good professional relationship. But it could be daunting. Fortunately, there was at least one friendly face among the masses of opportunity. Mera knew a couple of those other names, yes, and she would approach them. Eridia, as well as Nucleo. Lorata also seemed good. And somewhat familiar? For some reason?
But talking to Eridia would be difficult, and she didn't know Nucleo especially well. A child on the roster stuck out to her, though. Calida was a dear, a young entrepreneur, and it absolutely tickled Mera. She loved that this kid was going to jump into sponsorship, make a name for herself, and work with contestants! It was such a good move. So much gumption.
Mera had to admit another thing to herself. This would perhaps be the least stressful sponsorship interview out of any she could possibly have. Honestly, she was pretty excited to sit and talk. It would still be professional, but she might be able to relax a little, too. They were meeting at a cafe of course, and between Afryse and Calida it would be a lovely night for Mera.
For a couple of hours she wouldn't have to tear her hair out over sponsorship applications and working out who might accept them and interview timetables and travel schedules and all that. That felt wonderful.
Now, with Afryse in tow, she'd have to track down Calida for their chat..
