[PRP] gathering knowledge (america & nasir)

Nasir was finishing up his shift, pulling off the apron and hanging it up and then making a face as he realized that it had done nothing to stop him from getting covered in at least three different flavors of wing sauce.

At least they all smelled complimentary.

He was heading to the back to clock out, grab his back (maybe change his shirt; he had an extra in his bag), and hopefully catch America. Their shifts ended around the same time, for today at least, and he knew no one else to talk to aside from Leila when it came to warg things. He was fidgeting as he ended up waiting just a little bit, just out of a general habit as opposed to something else wrong with him.

Not that sometimes the magic didn't make him nervous, it did, but this was not one of those times. Right now he felt like he had a goal in mind and that was wonderful.

It was going to be her last shift for a couple weeks, and America was both sad and relieved. There'd been a lot more mistakes recently, and some of the customers, regulars even, were starting to be even more loud and intimidating. They'd made her cry during her shifts more than once. And that was nothing compared to the increasing amount of broken plates trailing after the easily startled girl. A vacation was clearly necessary, Taym had even said so and he's pretty much always right when it came to things.

But she'd miss the comfort of being in a familiar public place, and all the faces that were still friendly. She didn't want to go back to that claustrophobic little trailer out by the woods. It was lonely, and frightening, and made it hard for her to get any sleep. She'd miss feeling safe and taken care of by fellows like Borr and Nasir. At the end of her shift she was already waiting outside for Nasir, bundled in several layers of t-shirts and a cardigan and a scarf, a small book in hand.

Overhead, Mr. B called a hello, startling her from its pages to offer Nasir a tremulous smile.

If anything, Nasir was worried about America. She honestly reminded him of how he had been when he had first started realizing that he was not only part of all the magic things but also had a bond that could activate without any warning.

Mr. B got a wave and, from a nearby tree, Trouble was jumping from a branch to glide and land on Nasir's shoulder.

"Hey America," he called out once she smiled at him. That kind of smile on her made him pause, his wave a little stilted before he went on with it. "Mind an escort home? So we can talk?" Since she was going to be taking time off for work - so Borr had said - and it was likely due with her nervousness lately.

The girl sagged a bit in relief, "Oh gosh, thank you! It's getting so spooky around town, it's enough to make me start driving that old truck again." She wrinkled her nose at the thought of it. Tucking the book away, America straightened up and gave Nasir a grateful look.

"I'm really gonna miss seeing you on the regular. Um...what did you want to talk about?"

"Did you walk to work?" Nasir gave her worried look, somehow not expecting that she was so scared. It was out of place but perhaps she was simply stressed?

"I'm going to miss you too," he admitted with a small smile. Without her at work it wouldn't be nearly as bright around. "Ah, I am just wanting to talk to you about warg things? It's silly but I want to put together something for people to read about being a warg. We don't have a lot of guidance and I want to fix that."

"Taym dropped me off," America admitted, "...but he's got work right now." She tried not to sulk but there was a definitely pout in her expression, turning her general look of misery into something more petty, more childish.

"Oh...warg things?" It was a good idea. It was something she probably should have done, but then, what if someone got hurt? Or bonded wrong? She didn't want to feel responsible for those people, not anymore than she already did. It reminded her of Blackfriars...

"It's a good idea. I'll tell you everything I know, but it's not much." She ducked her head as she flushed, embarrassed by her own ignorance after all this time.

"I can give you a ride, it's no problem." Nasir assured her with a smile, arm reaching to tug her close because she looked like she needed a hug and America would always give out hugs.

"Well you can just tell me what you know? Things you think people should know? It isn't just for people who want to be wargs but for anyone to ... learn what being a warg is about. So that people don't feel so lost, you know?"

"I still feel lost, gotta say," America answered morosely, tucking into his side. It wasn't quite a hug, but Nasir made a good barrier between her and...everything else, and she appreciated it. "I did um...I made some notes, every time something changed or I found something new I could do with the bond. They're at home, though."

She'd stopped carrying notepads around with her all the time, it'd seemed a little silly and arrogant. Nobody needed to see her stupid thoughts and ideas, not really. But here they were, and she'd been wrong. Again. Always?

"They aren't much, but it'd be nice if they could help someone..."

"Me too, that's why I want to do this." Nasir squeezed America, smiling at her and then heading towards where his car was parked. His keys were pulled out and the alarm turned off. "Would it be alright to show me those notes?" Since he was giving her a ride home and would be there and-

"You certainly helped me when I started out with Trouble. It made things so much ... less scary for me."
