Four Fronds used to be a source of anxiety (and it still was to an extent), but Sarcel was getting better about it. The trees were lush and though the air was cold and brisk with the seasonal shift she made her way out here on her own volition. Did she have any business here? No, not particularly. It was a rare break, a moment of respite, some time away from the city and the bustle and the military office and paperwork.

She was wearing a light track jacket, her symbol blazed on the front with hemotyped wings matching on the back. The scarf around her neck was checkboarded and the rest of her attire was fit for the occasion. Coming to the edge of the forest, she gently set her hand against the bark, noting how smooth it felt under her fingers. Some distance away she heard a group of trolls, her expression neutral as she watched groups of perceived hunters making their way into the woods.

Despite how blank and neutral her face was, the disdain burning in the back of her head stung. It wasn't her place to say anything against what has been a long-standing tradition (and when it came to criminals, she could occasionally see it as just), but to do it solely for sport, act like you were killing an animal...

She sighed and turned in the opposite direction, hoping to find peace and quiet elsewhere, feet slowly bringing her around the edge of the white-toned trees.

Gnash liked to come to Four Fronds. Besides being much more seadweller-friendly than other major cities with its spas and resorts and large population of highbloods, the forest provided a good place for her to hunt for insects with her lusus. Even if that wasn't what her lusus wanted her to do.

Do you see the hunters Natash? Out in the distance the strong are killing the weak, those who have failed and those who have broken the laws of your society. They are being duly punished by those among you who are powerful rulers and you would do good to pay attention. You may be required to be one of those hunters, Angel was saying, her lure swinging as she spoke, thick legs crushing branches a few paces behind her. Gnash nodded blankly, not paying attention, her eyes focused on the ground, the tree bark, where a shiny bug might be awaiting her watchful eye.

Instead of a good bug, what she spotted was an older troll lingering by the edge of the forest. Not a hunter though, unless she was grossly mistaken on what they looked like. The blueblood was dressed casually and looked more like a sports friend than the much rougher, weapons-filled trolls who did the hunts. Gnash tilted her head, and called out to her. "Hey hello are you also looking for fun things to do out here in the forest?"

Sarcel heard the voice calling out to her, and her eyes snapped over immediately, her posture ridged and alert and ready. She wasn't sure what she had been expecting, but it definitely wasn't a seadweller child, let alone a seadweller child with their lusus, great. Her lips pursed together slowly as she went through mental checklists; she was affluent with the crown now, she was still a highblood, and this child wasn't going to give her a hard time. Hopefully.

"I'm afraid this is the wrong forest for fun things," She said to the young girl as she came over, "At the very least, for someone your age." Her lusus was capable of protecting her—as all lusii were—but she still didn't like the thought of a child wandering around the hunt, hate filled woods. All it'd take was one bitter lowblood, and god there were many...

That decided it. She wouldn't let a seadweller get maimed on her watch, lusus present or not.

Her smile was small, a little sympathetic, a little forced (forced for Sarcel was still genuine, just awkward). "You'd be careful to avoid the hunts until you were older, I think. Do you travel this way often?" The blueblood knelt down, her arms resting on her legs as she brought her eye contact down to Gnash's level.
