Punkie had a plot of land somewhere on the winding path between Four Fronds and Civisect City that she hadn't visited in at least two sweeps. She was getting older, and the juggalo decided to go check up on this project past kid Punkie had started. It was not strictly her land at all really. Most of her gardens were on land that was not owned by her at all. If she found a nice plot of abandoned land, she would sit down and make it her "own". By the will of the mirthful Messiahs, she would announce whenever such a plot of land was found, and cultivate it in their names. Now she was off to see what the Messiah had done with her holy land tribute, and the seeds she had planted there.

The juggalo arrived to find the acre of land absolutely overgrown. It was as if some sort of power had come over the punkins, and had made them grow in curious, winding, unique ways. Punkie was overjoyed. This must mean the great Messiah had accepted her tribute, and done what they wanted with it, and now look at it, beautiful. Punkie had a vague memory of setting up some sort of "maze" with her placement of various seeds, trellises, and walls the plants could clime up and over. It looked like the Messiahs had taken making the maze into their own incorporeal hands, and the path through was a mystery. A loud roar could be heard from somewhere deep in the maze, and it only made the orangeblood juggalo more taken with the magnificent garden.

Carver, Punkie's ever resourceful lusus, was there, clicking his claws away. Punkie turned to her mentor and listened with rapt attention. The clicking of claws on claws, claws on punkins, and other noises went on for a good ten minutes. Punkie sat, listening to the sermon, her eyes sparkling with the things Carver was saying. Yes! Her lusus was right! This was the perfect opportunity to make it a trial. She would advertise it, of course, the maze of fate, enormous prize at the end. The prize being the Messiah's approval of course. There was no greater prize in the world in Punkie's mind. The orangeblood went to her little red wagon and pulled out some supplies, making signs to advertise the maze. Now all she needed was a volunteer.

Deimos had just intended to be out on a stroll. Nothing big, not for too long... but something in the distance had caught his attention. He hadn't ever been in this direction before, so there was plenty to see, though most of it wasn't all that new. Some ferns. Big trees. Questionable stains on some of the trees. Maybe some bones (he kept those, they looked cool) here and there. But the thing that had really caught his attention was unidentifiable until he'd gotten much closer. He wasn't sure what to make of it at first- was it even real or was he just looking at something only a little weird and making it weirder in his head? It had been a while since he got an actual decent day's sleep in.

Upon closer inspection, it appeared to be... some sort of overgrown... something. Punkin patch? Thypion did not seem to approve of him getting much closer to it, but in true Deimos fashion he continued on ahead until he spotted a red wagon and... another troll. Perhaps this was their overgrown mess. "What're you doing?" Might as well get straight to the point.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. Punkie had just wished for the 428th time for someone to come up and inquire about the large, monster of a maze she had behind her. (The faygo was a good choice on fertilizer. And that uranium, she would need to go find more soon!) When sometroll came up and asked just what she had been hoping they would. Punkie heard "Ide like to trial for the mirthful Messiah's acceptance." come out of the tealblood's mouth, and it was love at first site. " ******** EXCELLENT!" The juggalo shouted, overjoyed. "Why this, my dear tealblood clod, is a Maze. It was made in the holy ******** name of the Messiahs, and they have laid their adorning eyes on this piece of s**t land and made it into a wonderland of ******** mirth!" Punkie panted a bit, her enthusiasm and her need for air battling each-other. "AND! There is a glob damned prize at the end, for whoever is the most ******** clever, strong, and wise troll!" Punkie threw up her hands, letting go of a handful of glitter to flutter over the tealblood, and struck a pose. Right down to business, Punkie motioned her new friend inside.

Oh no. A mistake was made. A terrible mistake. That mistake being continuing to go towards this mess of whatever it was when Thypion started getting agitated. It was too late- the juggalo had already began screaming. He winced, but somehow managed to stay focused long enough to understand that one, this was a maze - not a ******** of overgrown punkins. And two, that there was a prize for being awesome at the end. Clever, strong, and wise? That practically had his name written all over it. Deimos Somnus's Maze. Right here.

"What kind of prize?" He began dusting himself off- ugh, not glitter. He'd be picking sparkle particles off for the rest of the sweep, he was sure of it. Whomever invented that infernal craft supply had better have been tortured long and relentlessly for it. Swept up in the moment, he began shuffling toward the maze as she motioned toward it. Mazes weren't that hard, there was logic to them, after all! He'd get that prize and be out of there in no time.

Thypion rumbled a warning growl from behind him- his lusus did not approve of strange mazes set up by strange orangeblood juggalos. Nope. This a was a capital M Mistake and he was going to let his charge know about it. As per usual, Deimos ignored him. He was in a rather rebellious phase, it seemed.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. Punkie's grin grew so much it practically escaped her face. The glitter was sticking, it was a very good sign. Punkie waited until her and the tealblood were actually inside the maze before she spoke more. Better to get them past the front door before getting too far into the joy of the Messiah and the wonders of the maze. Carver, on the other hand clicked up a loud and enthusiastic conversation with the other lusus. Punkie nodded and exclaimed at all the right times to Carver's tour guide talk, and looked at the other two expectantly. Passing over the topic of the prize, (I mean the journey is the best prize an adventure can give of course!) Punkie continued with Carver's tour. "See the ******** punkin is the holly fruit. It serves so many glob damned purposes. Lanterns, pie, decoration, not to mention a ******** magnificent garden." They approached the first "T" in the maze and Punkie looked at the other troll expectantly. Carver clicked his claws abruptly, and Punkie jumped. She had gotten so caught up in the excitement that she had forgotten basic courtesy. "I am Punkie, by the way, what does a clump-turd like yourself go by?

Honestly... this kid was way freaky when she smiled like that with her face all painted up. Was that the purpose? He didn't really know much about the cult- in fact he didn't really know anything at all about it aside from it being a loud group of people that painted their faces. Definitely not the sort of crowd he'd normally hang out with. Still, he found himself easily guided along into the maze, Thypion following behind. The lusus' two heads divided their attention- one fixed on watching Deimos, the other listening to Carver's enthusiastic clicking. Thypion was still not entirely sold on this, but at least... they didn't seem to be out for his charge's head or anything.

"So the prize is a punkin." He narrowed his eyes. Despite being swept up in this nonsense, he was definitely keeping his mental eyes on the prize. That was, the prize at the end of the maze. So far this kid- Punkie - wasn't being very forthcoming about what it was. She also seemed to be quiiiiite loose with the curse words- he was sure he'd get a swift bat to the head from Thypion if he dared to curse that much. It wasn't "proper" for a midblood to curse. "Deimos. That's Thypion." He pointed back over his shoulder at his lusus, then looked down both sides of the T they were at. Apparently she expected him to choose which way they were going.

Dei vaguely remembered hearing that one should keep a hand to the right wall when in mazes, so he decided he would do that. But first, he needed a compass. "So what direction is the exit in?" He moseyed back over to Thypion and began digging in one of the carrying pouches attached to his harness. "Assuming you know, I mean. This is your maze, right?" After a bit of digging he pulled out the compass with a muted triumphant look. Perfect. He started wandering down the right side of the T, expecting that Punkie would follow.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. "Oh crumbshit!" Punkie exclaimed, laughing. "The prize is gonna be a lot ******** better than a punkin, i promise your splod clot that! But if ya feel the libido for one, its on the glubbin house!" Punkie winked. Jeez, if the boy wanted punkins, Punkie could get him a lifetime supply. Maybe in exchange for a small acceptance of the mirthful Messiahs into his life, but really, that was a win win for any troll. "The Messiahs watch us, and they ******** know." Punkie said in response to inquiries about the maze's owner. "I planted the scongey seeds my self! After that the Messiahs phished it!"

Dei narrowed his eyes at her for a few moments before he continued walking. She didn't actually answer the most important question he'd asked... what use was a compass if he didn't know what direction he was trying to go in? Oh well. He supposed most mazes tended to have exits directly across from the entrances so... he'd try that. Never mind the possibility of getting even more lost.

"I don't have a use for it so no thanks." He shook his head. A punkin would just go to waste with him. He didn't even like eating the seeds. "Okay, well, then you know which direction the exit is in, right? 'Cause its dumb going into a maze not knowing where you should be heading." He shrugged, but kept on anyway. At another T, he continued right. Might as well stick with the direction he was heading in for now?

He paused after a few moments longer of walking, though. A sound somewhere in the maze had caught his attention- and Thypion's. "...So when you planted the maze, did you put stuff in it?" Maybe this was a bad idea...

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. The orangeblood must have been distracted by the boy's obvious need for religion in his also obviously empty, shriveled bloodpumper, as she only just noticed the devilish device some trolls called a compass. "What the ******** ******** is THAT?! GET THEE DEVIL SCIENCE AWAY!" Punkie screeched, aiming to slap the compass away. She actually had a compass of her own at hive, but she had erased the stupid little letters that designated "south" "north" and other science lies. The compass was beautiful in its mysterious miracles, thinking to know what caused its mirth was work of the devil science man. This was her mirthful maze, her temple, so to speak. Science was blasphemy, obviously a waste of time for any decent troll. It was the true enemy of her Messiahs. It was what needed to be destroyed from her wonderful Alternia.

Then she too turned the direction the loud, potentially aggressive, animal noise came from. Punkie grinned, her joy seemingly returned with the arrival of a threat less toxic and deadly than the blasphemous science. "I planted nothing but ******** seeds here over a sweep ago. Its all thanks to the goddamned miracle that is the Messiahs that this holy ******** temple maze has become what it is now." Punkie always spoke the holy words louder than any other words, which meant she was essentially screaming them. Still, she gasped in surprise, or maybe joy, as her yelling attracted the beast. The animal charged in, its head that of an egg-layer-beast, its body like a ground dwelling gopher-beast, and two long, webbed feet, slapping menacingly against the loamy maze ground. The juggalo announced, posing in front of the beast as if it were her own. "The Messiahs have sent us a s**t-tastic example of their otherworldly power!" Punkie's lusus, Carver, clicked his small claws in applause from behind, holding in a tear of pride for his child's performance.

Deimos barely managed to move his hands out of her path in time to keep from having his compass totally shattered. "What's your problem!?" He quickly skittered a few paces away from the juggalo, cradling his precious compass to his chest. "If you don't want me to use it then fine but don't touch it." Dei shot her one more sour look before going to put the device away. Thypion was really starting to look uneasy... something wasn't right here.

"Right, well, there's obviously other stuff here now." He cradled his head in his hands- did she have to be so loud? In a turn of events he really should have seen coming, a rather fearsome beast came round a corner and began to charge them. Predictably, the orangeblood seemed excited about this. Deimos, however, was not. "THAT'S NOT A GOOD THING!" He actually raised his voice for once.

Obviously, her lusus was going to do jack squat for protection. He reached over to grab her hand and tugged her behind Thypion right as the massive lusus moved in front of them. Thypion's twin heads roared their own intimidating warning to the attacker, which... seemed less keen on getting a snack now that it had to fight for it. "You're gonna get us killed if you keep screamin'." Dei hissed as Thypion stalked forward, driving the other creature further into the maze. Once it was safer, Thypion turned and trekked back to the two little trolls. He sorely wanted to just pick Deimos up and leave- this place was clearly not safe for small trolls!

Relieved to see that his lusus was fine, Dei trotted over to pat at his side gently. "We woulda died if Thypion weren't here, y'know?? Totally died."

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. Punkie watched the wicked, sinful device get snatched away from her justice bringing hands with a smile. She would get, oh yes, even if it took her sweeps, she would get that disgusting "science" machine, and destroy it. This would not just slide, oh no, a juggalo's word was an iron promise of destruction. Punkie filed the vengeance away for later as the gift from her Messiahs appeared, roaring and looking terrifying. She was about to clasp her hands and dance in joy when the other kid grabbed those very hands and hauled her away.

"Killed?!" Punkie exclaimed in confusion. "No that ******** was sent by the goddamned Messiahs! Its ******** HOLY!" She had half a mind to be outraged that this tealblood had taken her from such an important event, but things happened for a reason. Sure sometimes the reason was simply because the holy Messiahs were higher than the twin moons in the sky, but it was still a reason. Besides, they did show their amazing powers. This kid had run in fear! It was beautiful, the powers the Messiahs beheld. "Well..." Punkie said, looking for a bright side for the tealblood. "Well we are glubbin safe as s**t now. Are you ******** happy yet??" Punkie smiled. She genuinely did, by the way, hope he was happy. He had gotten to see the power of the Messiahs, he should be ecstatic! Like her! Punkie nodded, assuming the boy was in fact satisfied. "Your ******** splod-clod made it through witnessing the mirth that is our damned messhaihs. You, ********, have passed the maze!" Punkie took out a bag of confetti from her pocket and emptied it over the boy's head. She stepped back, a look of pride on her jubilant face.

Oh god. She was out of her gourd. Literally. "It was going to eat us!" He retorted, completely baffled by her lack of understanding of just how close they were to death. He threw up his hands in exasperation, groaning aloud at her question. "I GUESS, but that shouldn'ta been a thing." Granted she had kind of indicated there would be some sort of trial in the maze... but he hadn't expected to get attacked by a wild beast!

"What." He sputtered, shaking his head as the confetti rained down upon him. Great, now he'd never get rid of all of it. "That's it? Just some paper stuff??" This... this was the lamest prize in the history of lame prizes. He wanted out of this place and back to his hive, pronto. ".....Great. Thanks........ I gotta..." He cast her a sour look as he dusted himself off, struggling to think of an excuse to leave... "I gotta meet someone- uh... about a thing. You enjoy your weird... maze thing." Satisfied with being at least mostly confetti-free, he waved and then motioned for Thypion to come along as he headed back toward the beginning of the maze- speedwalking the entire way. The faster he got away from here, the better.
