Guouli wasn't anywhere near world-weary, or old, or anything like that, but he did find himself in a bit of a funk. In the back of his mind, he was realizing something.

He felt kind of empty.

Here he was, at another jubilee, with all the bells and whistles, but he wasn't having any fun somehow. He had thrown a bit of batter at hapless lowbloods, and wrestled a snoutbeast, and all that good stuff, but he didn't feel anything. Not like when he was with Leeroi.

What in the hell was that about? Guouli didn't need anyone to have a good time, especially that idiot. That...fun...idiot. Ugh, whatever. Leeroi was off doing whatever in the hell and Guo didn't care. He didn't care! There was all this fun stuff to do and he'd figure something out. He always did.

As if to drive the point home, he tossed another ball of moon cake batter at a nearby redblood when no older troll (or Hogdad) was looking.

Granted, Hogdad was doing his best to keep an eye on his charge. Unfortunately, Guo's lack of drive made him sad, too, and he was getting desperate to see the child smile again.

Phelie wasn't sure bringing Mesnei to the festival was a good thing. It was a harmless festival, sure, but it was full of lowbloods and their strange.... Culture. Phelie never understood. Mesnei wanted to understand. (Mostly because, well, Gnash told her to try it out.) So she went. Only to be disappointed. It was so... Senseless? It had no reason, no practicality. She liked the colors and the calmness, but knowing Phelie didn't enjoy it made Mesnei unsure of how to feel about it. She tried to milk it out for as much as she could, though-- Phelie didn't usually say yes to outings like these, so far from their hive.

As they walked through the festival, Mesnei continued to look around for something interesting to do when a ball of some food type item sailed past her face. Mesnei's eyes widened, uncaring that it landed on a troll near her as her gaze snapped toward the blueblood with harsh eyes. Who did this lowblood think he was?! Her fists clenched and unclenched, expression full of anger. "Excuse me. Lowblood." Mesnei seethed, voice holding a dangerous amount of anger that only the hum of Phelie could tame. Phelie, however, was also bothered by the blueblood, and wanted to ride this out some. Maybe it'd teach them to look before they threw. "That almost hit me." She snarled, lifting her nose slightly before setting her jaw and glaring at him, not even registering features from the troll but angry nonetheless.

He had turned back to his batter to figure out his next move when someone spoke up. Guo looked over, hoping it was the redblood. But the fact someone called him 'lowblood' dried up his mouth and made his pumpbiscuit skip a beat. He appraised Mesnei. He could see the fins. A seadweller. This was rich. Guouli scanned nonchalantly for his lusus. Hogdad was coming back with a bag in his tusks, probably some more snacks to bribe Guo into behaving.

The blueblood looked back at Mesnei as if he had forgotten she was even there. "Sorry it didn't. Then you'd look like you actually belonged here." He sucked some batter off his fingers.
