Temperance pointedly turned her attention from Liam to the Zac/Vivien combination. Nothing was inevitable - that there was a way to repeat, a cycle to save everyone. It was an interesting thought, and perhaps a futile one, considering how much they had apparently changed this time. She tensed, but all she could do was wait for the ghost to speak again.

"I don't know," says the spirit. "I'm dead, not all-knowing."
It looks to Liam through Zac's eyes. They are half-lidded and loving.
Then the spirit leaves, vanishing into the air.

She covered her mouth as a laugh tried to escape. It came out instead as an inelegant snort. "Thanks, Vivien," she whispered. Of course, the spirit had left them far more questions than answers. What a stereotypical 'spirit' thing to do.
Temperance looked at Zac. "You okay?"

"I... I think so." he said quietly, clearly a little shaken. "I think so."
Liam swallowed hard, his adam's apple bobbing in his throat. "There's dessert," he said, after a long moment, "but you'll have to excuse me if I don't join you - I think I'll be retiring early. I know it's terrible manners, but please - enjoy the sweets, and see yourselves out."
He rose to his feet and turned, disappearing swiftly down the hallway and into his bedroom.
During the seance, the dining room table had been reset with a spread of seasonal pies and fancy candies.
