Kurasagi Hitsu Eh, depends on the gender really. Most guys I talk to have no trouble with shoujo-ai and most girls I talk to are more of yaoi fans. Still, the fact that yaoi has grown in popularity has some downfalls to it. Such as 'yaoi that should not exist' and the rabid fangirls themselves sometime.
Also, for some reason people think they are superior just because they like certain yaoi pairings and they go and insult those who like heterosexual couples. Then they talk about gay rights and how people shouldn't insult yaoi. Hypocritical much? People can like shoujo-ai, het and real couples just as well...
Finally, there are those who simply like certain series for the yaoi pairings. Bleh. Just bleh.
Personally, I have no trouble with the mentions of yuri, het, etc. I usually like couples a bit more for the personalities rather than the sex itself. Although that is a bonus.
Of course, seeing as I was and sometimes still am like that at some points, I'm also a hypocrite.
This thread is still alive?! xDD Ah, well, I agree. domokun heart

sweatdrop sorry I know this is off subject but really I am amazed that people can act well, civilized and make an actual conversation eek you see I'm used to yaoi fangirls to be [if ever they read this thread] " I love yoai (<-- uasually spell it wrong) but gay guys are nasty! I hate to blah blah they shouldn't blah blah blah lesbian are blah blah blah people don't understand me and think I'm weird just because blah blah blah" (-__-" to lazy to actually try to imitate one of those people) but to my piont most yaoi/shonene ai fn people are just going along wih it because its becoming so popular (well my opinion anyways) and the people that tend to like things just for show really tend to brag and make a big deal for liking something

Or it could be that people don't even know what they like. Most of the "yaoi-fangirls" don't even read real Yaoi... They tend to be fans of SLASH/BL.

It seems nowadays there are yaoi cliques; it's like if you're not into the "popular" pairings you aren't a true fan. Also there seems to be a big divide between yaoi/BL and slash fans. Sometimes the reaction you get for saying you like to slash, say, a TV show where the characters depicted are real flesh and blood is more akin to what you'd expect to get for saying you like to perform satanic rituals with next door's new puppy! (Well, okay, it's not that bad, but you get the idea. Lol.)

Given my age, I tend to be of the latter category. But I have never claimed myself a Yaoi fangirl, I always try and say BL. X3 I'm a fangirl with the correct terminology, baby.

Yeah, I noticed yaoi becoming popular. I'm not adding much to the topic but ever since "emo" guyxguy relationships have been the new thing. Or at least where I am. I don't really like the whole yaoi thing becoming popular. Anime in general is getting popular. It's good for the companies though. XD Ohmygod, I have no idea what I just said.

Aeronwyn It seems nowadays there are yaoi cliques; it's like if you're not into the "popular" pairings you aren't a true fan. Also there seems to be a big divide between yaoi/BL and slash fans. (Well, okay, it's not that bad, but you get the idea. Lol.) That really does seem how things go. If you don't like the popular OTPS, you're screwed. Take FMA for example. If you don't like Roy/Ed, tough titties. I hate Roy/Ed. No, really, I hate Roy/Ed! My FMA pairings are Havoc/Roy and Kimblee/Archer. Totally not the norm, but like I care. Also, slash? That's like the devil! There's lot of people (many I've encountered on this guild who think that slash is gross! It's like, just because it's a live action show, it's automatically not qualified to be slashy in any way. They simply turn off the possibilities of relationships! That's so stupid to me! I mean, I started out in yaoi, but I moved on to slash for a very long time before returning to yaoi. And Slash has very deep roots too. I mean, Kirk/Spock started a movement people! It started opening peoples' mind and getting their creative juices flowing. And yet, there's a lot of people that go "OMG! Gross!" or "It would be better if it was "drawn"" WTF? It has to be animated to be slashed? I think not! So yeah, there's a lot of ignorance running around in the yaoi genre. That's so highly ironic too since yaoi fans are supposedly so open minded. *snorts* They're just as close minded or even worse than your average joe at times.

You got a lot of yaoi... but hey, girls are asking for it. Guys ask for porn, from which I think is WAAAAAAAAY to much. But I think there can't be too much yaoi? Doesnt make sense huh? Doesnt have to make sense, as long as Im having fun

I think yaoi is a fad. Although, I think part of the reason would be because people start to get tired of het pairings. In a drama hat pairing, it is always the same thing, but with a gay pairing there are alot of options.

I think it is becoming popular in some places, but like where I live, people seriously despise Gay/Lesbian people (Big problem for me though.) As much as I would like it being popular but I don't want it to be popular. I think it's fine the way it is, if it gets way to popular like then it's way to much, I like things like these to not really become a fad, that make sense?
