Aruná paced, and had done so for quite some time now. Udongo had excused herself to go on an errand some time ago, and that was just as well. She had a feeling she would have started snapping at her sister if she'd been here still, and she didn't really want that.
Cy... She hadn't said yes to his mate offers, and he'd asked her again, but they had spent a lot of time together. Eating together. A lot of intimate... discussions... together. The results were predictable, but had still managed to get her off balance. She counted the heartbeats again trying to remember her Minder's lessons back in the day. Did she smell different, or was it just her imagination?
She had a feeling Udongo already knew what was up, but thankfully she hadn't said anything yet. Perhaps she waited for Aruná to tell her? It wasn't showing, and she knew it wouldn't prevent her from hunting if she'd want to do that. But they were there, and it was freaky.

Aruná stopped pacing as Cy entered her den, but he would probably be able to tell she was a bit agitated. She went to greet him with a head buff, still feeling a bit twitchy. Sooner or later she'd have to tell him about their predicament, but for now she wanted to delay the inevitable and do something familiar like greeting him. She didn't think he'd bail on her, but who knew what he'd think?
"Did you do some sparring," she asked, giving him a sniff and noticing he was sweaty, "Udongo went to do an errand. She'll be back soon."
She actually didn't know how soon Udongo would be back, since she'd forgot what kind of errand her sister had talked about. Normally she didn't forget things like that, and it annoyed her that she was so easily distracted lately. She figured it was probably best to assume that Udongo could be back anytime.

Waiting for him to say something was killing her. It was impossible to read his expression or guess his thoughts, and she felt herself getting twitchy again. When he finally spoke, he wasn't upset, he seemed shocked but pleased. She allowed herself to relax just a notch.
"I don't know, more than two I think," Aruná said with a small smile, "I guess we'll see."
She had no haruspex to ask for a small sacrifice, so there was no way to tell how many or what genders they could expect. Back in Mizimu pregnant females knew just who to turn to. She wondered if one of the Priestesses of the pride could do something similar. Or maybe do something to ward off evil spirits. She'd talk to Udongo later, maybe they could manage a simple ritual of some sort. She hadn't been taught much along those lines, more than the basic good omen - bad omen minder stuff. But they also needed to do this right, the Stormborn way.
"We have to get married," she blurted.

"Good," she said, "Good..."
She'd definitely have to go find a priestess tomorrow then. They might both be Outlander born, but she would make sure their marriage would be a feast to remember. Akatta had taught her much about what was expected of a freeborn wife, and Aruná found herself looking forward to being just that. Ruling the household with a firm paw, tending to cubs and thralls. And speaking of that...
"I think we'll need another thrall," she said. "Could you find something maybe? Just not a lion, or half-lion and nothing green."
Half spirited creatures were just sad, and she wouldn't feel right getting a lion thrall. A spiritless creature like a leopard or cheetah was something else. They didn't have a spirit like a lion, so they were better suited for servitude. Cy had his bird thrall, but she'd never dream of ordering the bird around. Hopefully he'd be able to find something for her on his next raid, or trade for a nice thrall.
