The steps taken to the stadium were short, solemn and made with with hesitation. With every step to center stage, the sounds of the crowd grew in volume and intensity. Jung-Su's thoughts of running out with his tail between his legs were growing louder as well, but they started to fade when C, his Chingling, was floating by his side patting the lad's shaking shoulders to calm him down. While this action did help him a little, it did not change the anxiety of having to command a battle in front of people. What worried the brown-eyed boy most was that he did not have any prior experience battling. He did see Pokemon battles via television broadcasts, but nothing live. And he did study up prior the moves, advantages and weaknesses of his Pokemon. Regardless it was now or never and ready or not the battle was about to begin.
Jung-Su didn't know anything about his opponent other than his name; Elijah Abney. At first glance, the person on the other side of the stadium appeared to be a smiling male youth his age with blue hair and red-brown(?) eyes. There was quite a contrast between him and his opponent and it was negatively affecting the self-conscious lad's mental state. "I-I'm sorry C..." The dreadlocks wearing boy was already apologizing as if he'd already lost before it even started. This, of course to no surprise by any who knew the two, earned Jung-Su a slap in the face from his bell Pokemon, reminding him not to give up. "Y-You're right... W-W-We can d-do this... Maybe..." The ethnically mixed child mumbled loud enough for C to hear after getting some sense knocked into him. "L-L-L-Let's do-do-do our best!!" He awkwardly shouted to both Elijah and C, his voice cracking as he did so.

Somehow looking at the results of the randomization Eli didn't feel relief; it felt more like uncertainty. Yes it looked like he would have a free ride into the second round due to the odd number of competitors but it only meant it was delaying the inevitable of battle, but maybe he could watch the other matches so he could see what he was up against. Not too long into the prep time the speakers rang with a voice calling them to their specified areas. Eli wasn't sure where to go, but then he saw the new bracket and it looked like he was now against someone named Jung-Su Douglas. Interesting name but he had no idea who that was. He turned his attention to Koru and Kirsi and in following their action of telling each other good luck Eli grinned big and gave a thumbs up to them,”Yeah good luck guys we'll see you soon! Come on Yena,” Poochyena woofed at Chance and Cyndaquil in cheer then swished around and ran alongside Eli to their waiting area. Waiting seemed to feel just as he had thought- nerve racking, little irritating, and a high rise in anxiety. He tried really hard to think of who his opponent was, but as he got to the point to where his brain was going to explode he sighed loudly and shrugged,"Hum guess we're just going to be in for a surprise right Poochyena?" She only looked at him with a titled head; she probably thought he was losing it. He finally leaned back and was once again at ease, but it soon ended when someone came in and told him it was time for him to enter the ring (not their exact words but he got the idea). Eli stood up and followed them out into the battle area. He was in awe by how big it was. It was like the one he had seen on TV last year for the Hoenn League Championships. He didn't his first battle would be in a place like this, maybe on a dirt road or something like a scene from a old cowboy movie maybe? He stepped up to his spot and Poochyena was already leaping into position ready to go. Eli held a serious expression only for a moment then he saw his opponent- he still had no idea who he was. The guy actually looked pretty nervous, but who wouldn't be with a stadium of people watching? He did like the boy's dreadlocks though they looked really cool and gave him a bit of a wild-style. It was really contrasting with his obvious nervousness. The boy's eyes met with his and Eli didn't know how to react other than smile. Suddenly the little pokemon he had slapped him. Eli jerked back then slumped forward worryingly surprised. The boy then said something for the first time and wished both of them the best. Eli gave a worried smile to the boy, kinda worried now that his own pokemon slapped him, and replied,”Same to you man good luck!”

Olivier the Referee
Olivier entered the battlefield with a confident smile on his face. This was his true calling: Official Pokemon Battle Referee. If there was a battle happening then he would be there to judge the battle. This was an important job in a world where Pokemon Battles were so dominant. Olivier was happy to be part of this tournament and if Lamia District officials had not asked him then he surely would have walked up to them and asked to volunteer. He was here now and he would be performing his job with pride! The competitors had entered the battlefield meaning it was time to get this battle rolling.
"This battle is about to get underway! The competitors are summoning their Pokemon right now. A hot battle will soon commence so trainers get ready!" Olivier spoke with a clear voice into the mic that was on his ear. This allowed everyone in the stadium to listen to his voice. Once both trainer and pokemon were ready, Olivier raised his red and green flag in the air.
"Let the battle...begin!"

Eli felt a sudden surge through him when the referee walked up to the field. He could feel his whole body stiffening but at the same time he was experiencing excitement and anticipation. The referee announced in a booming yet clear voice the battle was about to begin to the audience. In this time it felt like everything was going silent and he didn't mean to, but he was beginning to glare this kid down. His glare...this zangoose glare was something that only reared when he was upset, but he wasn't upset he was excited. Maybe it appeared for both? He began to speak again and Eli felt the words as it felt like a countdown to something amazing.
"Let the battle...begin!" Without a moment of hesitation after the referee's words Eli lit up like the flame on a torch. He raised both hands in the air pumping his fists once then then shot one outward directly from him. Now it was time to show a little bit of his wild side,"Alright Yena let's begin... set things off with a Howl!"Poochyena wished he hadn't called her that, but she could feel her trainer's excitement. She jumped around in her steps then lowered her head into a full rise to her nose pointing at the sky. From the hyena pokemon a lone long howl was ushered. The low sound was haunting and menacing and as it raised in it's hollow volume Poochyena became more of a presence.

Jung-Su felt the slap mark on his face heat up as the referee's voice boomed throughout the stadium thanks to the mike, solidifying in his mind that this was actually happening. The lad, still a little shaken despite his Pokemon's best effort of snapping him out of it, flinched in fear due to the other lad's glare. It wasn't a change in attitude he expected from the competitor who was concerned about him moments ago. Feeling a mix of admiration and jealousy from his ability to seemingly change his pace with ease, the brown-eyed boy tried to glare back only for him to look like he was squinting instead.
Elijah wasted no time comanding his Poochyena to howl. The intimidating low pitched cry made the already frightened boy reflexively take a small step back. That was until he looked at his Chingling. His Pokemon didn't to be afraid and simply waited for his trainer to give him a command, casting a glance and a quick nod towards the boy as if to encourage him. Seeing his long time friend have such confidence in him brought the dreadlock lad back to the battle. "Go C! U-Use yawn!" The quivering in his voice would not leave his being, though he was thankful to even get the command out. Nodding to gesture that he understood, the levitating yellow bell with sounds of his own. The Chingling stretched his mouth wide open, inhaling in the process and the orb in its mouth vibrating, and audibly released the air in him to caused drowsiness.
