Word Count Shining Armor || 1,260
At long, long last the sun finally broke over the horizon line, spilling its golden rays over the landscape and bringing color back into the world. The young B'alam sighed as the first rays filtered through the trees and illuminated his sleeping form. Waking, strangely enough, was refreshing to him. When the sun went down- so did he. When it rose- up he went. Sadly, in the few days that he'd been awake and aware, he had yet to discover the use for the sphere nestled safely in the twisted curve of his horn or the stars in the night sky. He also had no sense of self-preservation because, true to the nature of most newly-woven B'alam, he had no concept of danger or harm. He had learned what hungry was- and he had quickly learned how to fix that little problem.
Of course simplicity would not remain the way of his world for too much longer. Soon a nagging question began to grow in the back of his mind- one that seemed to over-shadow the simple joys of a warm side, a full belly, a drink of fresh water, or even watching the first moments of a sunrise.
But...even the question seemed to have layers. He'd been woven alone, without a guide or any companion- and yet he wanted one. He didn't know there were others out there but he felt...half-completed. There was a nagging tug deep inside that insisted that there must have been something out there to change that. Secondly- he'd been woven far from his Tribe. Unknown to him, it would take weeks to walk there- but he had no idea where he was meant to be.
In short- who was he?
The first step, at least he believed it was a first step, was finding a label. A title? A name. That...sadly was slow coming. He had no idea what to call himself, even as the words for other things dawned on him. Paw. Tree. Horn. Stream- but what was he?
He'd discovered his reflection the day before and had puzzled on that one for some time. He was... himself. That was it. The question had followed him to bed and as much as he hoped that it wouldn't- it was right there looking him in the face come morning.
With another long sigh, he pulled himself from the dew-covered grass and stretched his long, sleek back out in a fluid motion that sent his front paws out stretching and reaching while his hind quarters pulled the other way. After a long yawn and a shake of his head, he was padding off once more. Where? He didn't know. Perhaps more would come to him that day.

Perhaps the first order of business was to find himself...a label. That word didn't seem just right... it seemed a little impersonal. At the moment it was the only word he had for it- so he'd have to figure out the proper word for self-labels. Everything around him had a label- but...even that seemed simple. There were so many different bugs, they couldn't all just be called "bugs". There were flying ones, creeping ones, ones that hummed in the night, others that chirped during the day- there were several he was sure he didn't like, others that he found fetching. There were likely more than he knew about! Same went for birds, types of growing things- flowers.
He paused mid-stride, changed the course of his paw slightly, then moved on. He'd nearly trampled one of those lovely growing things. Flower. Well that title came to him out of no where- but certainly there were more labels for those too. Pink, green, blue-
He shook his head and let out a quiet chuckle in spite of himself. His mind had gone into a spiral again, picking apart every detail and chasing after every tail.
Then there was a movement ahead. He froze and lifted his ears. From a distance, it looked like...a very pink version of his own reflection- but with...many differences. He frowned and slowly took a step back. Was...this other one bad? Were they dangerous? Was he?
Rein_Carnation Loving it so far! XD Starting off any interaction is always a little hard. >A>;

The uneventful, quiet morning met a quick and earth-shattering end. A voice, unfamiliar to him, ripped through the silence like claws through blades of grass. Every muscle in his body froze up, locking him in place. Time itself seemed to slow as he turned over a shoulder, helpless to do anything more than stare as a blur of pink fur and paws rushed at him from behind. His eyes went wide and his mouth fell open as a strangled yelp escaped him.
When time restored itself to its natural flow, he stumbled backward, suddenly all paws and limbs, and in short order found the ground. His heart pounded roughly against his rib cage as he fought to control his breathing. Never in his young life had anything...what was the word? Scare? No...well yes- in a sort. Surprise? That was the word she had cried out- wait she?
He paused, still frozen in dumbfounded silence. This one had a spirit that was...different. So different than his. Her body looked the same- at least in structure and shape, not so much in color - but her spirit....it was not like his own. The new sense nearly blinded him to the second stranger approaching. When his wit returned he gasped and drew a paw closer to himself, his jaw snapping shut.
Another one? Another...she?
She was making mouth-sounds too. Speaking. She was speaking. The tah forced a smile, it seemed to be the proper response, and slowly lowered his paw to the ground. A...friend? This pink thing was called a friend?
He glanced between the two and slowly rose back up to a stand. "It's... it's okay. Just...new that's all. That was different. I hope-" He took a step back, "I...didn't do anything to....provoke that."

A proper hello? Whatever was proper? Whatever was...hello?
The tah stared, his eyes darting from one nan to the other, quietly taking note of the subtle and none-too-subtle differences between them while somehow keeping his attention divided enough as not to stare. Somehow...staring felt as if it was rude or highly intrusive... intrusive? Yes- like someone jumping into his face and throwing too many big words out without explanation or reason behind them. Still, he didn't feel that either nan was doing it out of anything but good nature and genuine curiosity towards him. They didn't mean to- what was that word she used? Scar....scare? They didn't mean to scare him.
Scare- so that's what made his heart jump and the wind to leave his chest. He had been scared.
"It's...it's okay- I...", He put a paw to his chest and took a slow breath. There was no point in babbling or panting out his response, he'd only look...well like a newly-woven. Which he was.
"It's quite alright."
Pinkie?
He paused again, glancing to the one addressed now as "Pinkie". It didn't line up with any words he knew- perhaps...that was her "word". The word that belonged to her like scared belonged to the feelings he had experienced. Strange...it seemed to fit. How- he didn't quite know yet. When the more subtle, quiet of the two smiled his way he found his maw pulling involuntarily back to mirror her expression. For a moment he felt his heart skip again- but it was a different feeling. It wasn't...scared- it was-
Oh?
"A...light...triber?" He responded dimly, pulling his eyes away from the winged nan back to louder one- Pinkie?
Wind triber? Earth? He shook his head slowly, not understanding.
"I uh-", he glanced between the two. Feeling pressed for some kind of response, he broke into a strange fit of...noise. It was nervous laughter. While it filled the silence, it didn't fill it in quite the way he had hoped. Sadly, the more he laughed the more strange he felt, the more strange he felt the more he felt he had to keep laughing to avoid speaking. The hole kept getting deeper and deeper...
Rein_Carnation Sorry for the late response! ;A;
