AMBITIOUS JACKASS
Rhys is more or less mild-mannered and acceptably sociable, but is quietly angry with the world and everything and everyone in it. His thoughts are often muddled with sarcastic, less than savory commentary as he goes about the day to day, but he bites his tongue in the interest of self-preservation. His temper is quick to flare but he chooses to vent his misgivings either in the gym or on something equally productive, also in the interest of self-preservation. Harsh words and hard punches weren't going to solve his problems, and he knew as much. Everything he's become and everything he's achieved up to this point in his life--starting with growing up without his father all the way to putting himself through EMT school while holding down two jobs and providing for himself and now going back to school to get a proper degree--is a testament both to the shithole that he pulled himself out of and the level of resilience and ambition he would have needed in order to do so. IT'S A MATTER OF TRUST
Growing up the way he did, trust has just never come easy for him. One adult after another continued to just let him down, never mind what he had to suffer through for half of elementary school and all of junior high. At some point it just became easier to shut them all out as much as he could and take care of himself, which he learned to do by the time he was in high school. It shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone that he has a hard time trusting anyone with just about anything in his life. There has never been any one person that he's made an exception to this, though he's certainly tried, and failed, quite a number of times. After all those failures he's become more or less jaded about the idea of ever having people in his life that he considered anything more than passing acquaintances.Problem is, he wants to be able to trust people. Or if not people, at least those he might eventually consider family. And he does want to have a family. He'd never admit it to anyone, but there's always been a part of him that knows he'd be a great dad. Unfortunately for him, before that can even happen he kind of needs a woman in his life. He just...can't seem to find one that he can trust. Rather, he can't seem to find anyone he feels he can really trust. There's always something about whoever it is, the kind of something he can never put his finger on which later prompts him to end the relationship or friendship or partnership or whatever it is before it even has the chance to get anywhere; this applies to just about any meaningful relationship he could potentially have. He calls it "being careful." Being careful got him this far in life, the question really is just how much further he can go before he hits a ceiling and actually has to put his guard down and take a few chances. He knows it, too, he just can't seem to get himself to do anything about it.
THERE'S ALWAYS ENOUGH
Last cup from the pitcher, last piece of cake, last one in stock. Wherever he goes, when something's supposedly run out there always seems to be just enough or just one more (usually in the back or in some obscure hiding spot) for him. He's basically the lucky b*****d that always manages to get the last of whatever it is he's trying to get, regardless of other people before him already being told that there are none left, and he's gotten plenty of nasty looks because of it. Not that he cares.ANYTHING ELSE?

Nickname: "Rhys" -- it was his father's name; it's the last sort of connection he has with him, and Rhys has been using it as his nickname ever since his father passed.
Age: 22
Physique: 6'2", 163lbs, naturally athletic (mesomorphic body type); consistency in both his diet and exercise regimens allow him to sport a lean and well-sculpted body.
Appearance: Deep sea green eyes; light tan skin that can sunburn if he isn't careful; short, light brown hair and a beard-goatee sort of combination kept at stubble length. He has an extensive tattoo (ref pending) and a myriad of scars (ref pending), not to mention great teeth and a killer smile that he's never cared to show off to anyone.
He works as an EMT, newly transferred and assigned to the AFD.
He's a health and fitness buff and spends a lot of time at the gym, also trains in kickboxing.
He has a year-old pit bull terrier named Dr. Chubby McCuddleston (a rescue; Rhys found it amusing and couldn't bring himself to give him a new one), affectionately shortened to Doc or Chubbs.
He has two parakeets, Aey and Zee.
He snores like a monster truck.
