To the contrary, Gretchen was exactly where she was supposed to be, although she wasn't entirely pleased to be there. There was a notoriety attached to the haunted house, a history of trainees going in whole, and coming out broken.
It left the Death on edge as she walked as quietly as she could through the creaking halls. What light there was was eerie and uncertain, and it seemed, at least to her, as though there were some rather stubborn shadows that hung heavily in certain corners, defying the laws of normal physics.
Not that that should be all that surprising. Not with everything else she'd experienced thus far with the organization.
It was probably her imagination, but it sounded like the house was breathing. Creaks and groans were all around her, masking any noises that might have been made by things that didn't belong there. She bit her lip as she turned a corner, back to the wall, and peered down the new hall she'd found herself.
What was that at the opposite end? It was hard to see...

The voice was unfamiliar, but Gretchen hadn't really expected to run into someone she knew. As far as she was aware, she was the only one on patrol in the Haunted House at the moment. Just a routine check, in and out, and she should be finished up, but that voice...that voice said her job just got a lot more complicated.
"Hello?" She continued forward, squinting, until the figure at the end of the hall started to come into view. Arabic looking in attire, dark skin(what there was of it...), dark hair. Famine horseman.
Gretchen tensed, grip tightening on her staff as she came to a halt in the middle of the hall, facing the horsewoman with wide, but determined eyes. Her orders were clear now, she knew what she was supposed to do. It was just a matter of doing it.
(Sssssstop being such a coward, ussselessss child)
The trainee flinched, bringing her weapon around at the ready.

Apparently the horsewoman didn't consider her that much of a threat. Instead she had turned, excited, to show the trainee what she'd found. The cork was removed, the vial held out, and suddenly Gretchen could breath. Whatever was inside it, when it was thrust near her face, she happened to get a rather full whiff of the contents.
Poison!
(Not quite, but try to avoid breathing more of that in, if possssssssible.)
Coughing, she retreated a few steps, trying to clear her lungs and get her head in the game. A second or two, and she brought the staff up, swinging at the horsewoman's hand to knock the vial away from them, and probably bruising up her hand in the process.

As it hit the floor, the vial shattered, and the gunk splattered annoyingly.
Quote: In battle, your horsemen can simply summon an explosive potion that does +1 extra damage for 3 turns.
Xala stumbled back, shaking her hand and wincing. "Ow! Ow, ow, ow, what was that for?" She shook the hand, sucking on it moodily. "And you lost my sample." Suddenly, her eyes gleamed a bright green.
"Oh, you know what? It's okay. I guess I'll just have to get extra samples from you!" Xala pounced Gretchen, and immediately began pulling her hair.
It didn't come out at all.
"What did you use to put this on here, Super Death Sticky?"
