The afternoon sun found Lucky... bored. He had been up to a great many things- exploring new places and learning new things, sticking close to his fellow monochrome-spotted B’alam. They weren’t really his family, but they were certainly his friends. They at least gave him a sense, deep down, that he wasn’t alone in this world. Though Lucky would never admit that. He was trying to build up an impression of being tough and competent.
So, on a day where nothing had happened other than him wandering around the general area looking for something new, only to be presented with rocks. Grass. Sky. Grasshoppers... He had learned about those things already! He had plopped himself down in the grass with a heavy sigh and felt the sun’s warm rays beating down on his back, his black spots warmer than the rest of him.
“I wish there was something to DO!” The cub exclaimed suddenly, splaying out as he said it. Alas. He had tried to seek something interesting, but to no avail. Maybe he should try one of his friends. He rose to his paws to go seek them out and hope he could find someone who felt adventurous.

Lucky kicked at a rock mid-stride to watch where it went- just off into the grass. How predictable. What he hadn’t predicted, however, was the voice calling to him. He turned to see Latch heading his way- a perfect happenstance! Lucky felt like he had received confirmation that he’d picked the right name for himself, because it was good fortune that he crossed paths with Latch.
“Do I ever! Latch, can you read minds?” he asked, half-way serious. “Most other days I’ve managed to find something new and exciting to do, but today just seems dull,” he said remorsefully. But suddenly he was beaming, “So! Do you have any ideas? I was thinking, maybe, since we haven’t gone very far, we should ‘expand our map,’ so to speak,” Lucky said, looking around as if trying to spot something special on a horizon with a determined look on his face. A tall rock formation would be cool to climb, or maybe they could find a stranger to learn about. Or bother. Or maybe they could go on a hunt for something bigger than themselves! But they could certainly do any of those things in a brand new place. “I think we could find our way back after everything, don’t you?” He’d gotten pretty accustomed to the look of this place and the surrounding area, and he knew everyone’s scents by now. Not to mention he seemed to be gaining something of a sense of direction which he had found to be helpful.

![User Image](https://i1315.photobucket.com/albums/t585/ToBPets/Thalion/Certs/Wind/Zaylin_Zakiax.jpg)
The winds had taken him far from where he had awakened. He had awaken near the wind tribe, but he did not want to stay with the tribe he was apart of the Tah felt there was more for him to do rather then just stay up in the clouds among the floating mountains. The Grand Weaver had put him on this land for a greater purpose then stealing from other Balam. No he felt like he needed to protect those of the land, those who were smaller then him. Cubs, fauna and the like. Of course there was the fact that all things must die, but he would not stand for those bullying others, or cubs awaking to this cruel world alone. The winged balam gave a small shudder at the thought.
That would be a cruel thing for the weaver to do, but Zaylin still believed that everything the weaver did had some sort of purpose else he would not do it. Even so he was not put upon this land to steal, no he was here to protect.
Zaylin had gone far from where he had started out this morning, however his wings were getting tired as he flew through the sunny sky. He was not meant to fly this much, but he wanted to push himself, so that he could extend his limits. The grey male considered this to be a bit of training so that when he found those who needed his protection he could protect them with out fail. So far he had found none, but he did not give up. There had to be someone or something out there that needed his help.
Tired wings descended from the sky landing his black clawed paws upon the soft green grass of the world below. The adult did a few stretches with his wings before folding them upon his back. It would not be good if they were to cramp up later if he needed to use them. No, he could not have that happen. Wind Balam were a bit vulnerable upon the ground, due to their ability to fly their bodies were quite fragile. Zaylin wanted to fix that, to fight against it, he would train until he was strong enough to match a grounded balam in a physical fight.
A soft sigh escaped the winged balam, the earth was quite warm, unlike the cooler air above it. It was quite the wonder, the differences between how things are seen from the surface and from above. Different perspectives from different balam, not that he had met another before. Awakening alone in this world was quite lonely, but he had a task set to him, something he would not take lightly.
He gave a stretch of his body before matting down the grasses with his paws and settling within the grasslands. This would be a good place for a nap. It was open enough that he should be able to hear as another approached, and if need be he could quickly take to the sky if he felt like he was in any danger. Yet the adult still would like to test his strength against another so he could gauge himself.
In time he would need to figure out how much stronger he would need to get.
