It hadn’t been very long since Nascha had opened her two-toned eyes to the world. In the days since then she relied on what was given to her by the entity that had created her. She knew the needs of her body as they pulled her to certain things- herds of creatures to eat, and rivers from which to drink. And in that time, Nascha had learned many things, but one thing was a choice she had made herself. There was much to see, who knew how much there was? She had to see all of it. Learn as much as she could, and learn it well.
She had figured out that she could pick up pebbles with her paw, but she could also pick them up without. Every little revelation came with a little, “Huh,” from the creamy B’alam, or an “interesting...” Today’s discovery was particularly interesting- she had looked into a still part of the river and seen a face. She leapt back in shock before peeking back over the bank. She furrowed her brow and so did the figure- it flicked its ear when she did, and she pieced together that some things reflect, and that this had to be her.
With this new revelation in mind, the grinning cat set to wandering around in the tall grass, trying to figure out why some was tall and some was short, some had flowers and some did not... Well, they were made that way no different from her and her darker ear, but they had to help the plant somehow. Otherwise it wouldn’t make sense. She laid down at that place and closely held a flower in one of her paws without taking it from its plant. She considered it with head tilts and wonderment, carefully moving the petals to one side or another, completely engrossed in her quandary.

Nascha was low to the ground but moving along- she had found a path of shorter grass and was following it as far as it could go. Was it a creature that had made this path, or did it just grow like this. Did grass like to tell you where to go, or make it easy for you to travel in it? How would she test it, either way? Life was already proving to be difficult- the threads did not want to be unravelled enough for her to just get the answer! But, she supposed, it had to be worth it. It just had to be.
Just as she started to straighten up, someone caught her attention not at all far off through the grass. It was another someone- one who had roughly the same shape as her, but was different. First, it was a Tahtil and she was not- don’t ask how she knew. Second, as she had seen from her reflection, he had a number of differences from her. She stared for a long moment- he was the first of her kind, other than her reflection, that she had ever seen before.
But it became clear that maybe, just maybe, she had done something she maybe shouldn’t have, because he didn’t seem as pleased to see her as she was to see him. She pieced together what she knew- she had just seen him leap expectantly from the grass, and now he had nothing. Had she interrupted a hunt? Because that was really how it seemed
“Um,” she said eloquently. How did these things go? How would she know? Would he figure out he was the first B’alam she’d ever seen? “Uuummm, hi!” she finally said, deciding to roll with it- see what he said. Maybe he would say something? She hoped he’d say something.

Ooohh she had really stepped in it now. She folded her ears back and glanced side to side, as if she was going to find help there. Really, it was just to avoid his blazing amber gaze. There really was no escaping it though. She had to deal with him- and man was he big. She cowered slightly, perhaps to show she was no threat, but didn’t back up or make effort to run “Um, no, that’s not all I-I guess. You’re such a good hunter I didn’t even know you were there to ruin your hunt,” she said. “I’m very sorry to have ruined it, but... But that doesn’t mean you don’t have to not eat!” she said, an idea occurring to her.
Maybe she could still salvage this meeting, maybe, just maybe, there was a chance they could be friends. “Hey, look. I haven’t eaten today either, maybe I could make it up to you by helping you replace it? We could both hunt, maybe get something bigger, and you’d only have to do half the work- what do you say?” She asked with a placating grin on her face. She urged him, in her head, to soften up and accept it. “As my apology, of course, I’d be willing to help you catch whatever you want, no matter how hard?”

Oh, now this was even more then he expected. Yes, he could conclude the she was new to this world. Such naivety, but it was wonderful that he would be able to exploit it. "Do you even know how to hunt?" he quested her. A bit skeptical sounding on her proposal. He gave a bit of a snarl, as if he was not expecting her to answer with a yes.
Two may be better in a hunt, if one knew what they were doing but if she did not would it be worth his effort to teach her. He thought on that for a bit, maybe, it would depend on the type of kill they would plan to go after. Something big, maybe enough to keep his hunger fed for a few days at least. He would have to decide after she had given him her answer. Though she should have some sort of skill at it, after all they were quite naturals at hunting, or so he had found himself to be.
