The sabre went for her ankles, and Sarcel reacted in turn. The sheath caught the side of her shwing, and while it still tripped her up it wasn't nearly as bad as it could have been.

Still, now that she wasn't actively flying around his hive assaulting him, she was starting to sober up from the fighting high. She was still pissed, but she was also starting to get pissed with herself. Her own fledgling pride wouldn't let her back down either, but she was starting to regret the whole thing. At the end of the day, she had wrecked havoc in Sinter's hive. She had backed up from the swing, but Sarcel returned to standing her (receding) ground.

"I suppose we're at an impasse then, aren't we Heilig." She was trying to calm down, but her response still sounded incredibly irritated and flippant.

Sarcel had stopped attacking him. Sinter was lucid enough at this point to not take it as an immediate opening. He halted his own mindless swinging. "I... suppose we are," Sinter replied, incapable of thinking of anything more clever or succinct. He wasn't sure what was more embarrassing: losing the fight and being forced to apologize, or realizing what a waste of time and energy this had all been.

Sinter does 0 damage!

Sarcel seemed more than content to continue staring him down, the silence deafening. When it started to become apparent that Sinter wasn't going to swing at her again (or apologize), Sarcel weighed the pros and cons of taking the initiative back up again. She stared. He stared. They stared some more. She was thinking much more clearly, but now the awkwardness was starting to drag on and rebound into more tension. She really was bad at this.

But she wasn't bad at giving up, which is why she very pointedly maintained eye contact as she stepped on his foot hard with her own.

This was... an entirely new level of uncomfortable. Sinter desperately missed the indignation and righteous fury of earlier. That at least gave him something to do. Now he was just stewing in his own mounting embarrassment. Should he... Should he say something? Was it his turn to say something?

Sinter began to open his mouth. Sarcel stomped on his foot. Sinter screamed.

"OW! What the ********, Cincil!?" Sinter all but wailed. He shook in place as he tried not to hop like a cartoon character. True he may have been wearing what technically counted as dress shoes, but one would think Sarcel was wearing cleats with the way that hurt.

It was ridiculous. How was Sinter respond to something like that!?
