Since he had returned to Halloween after the incident in the human world life in the town they called home had returned to seemingly normal. The catboil had to admit, he was glad to be back. Things were as normal as things could be in a perfectly abnormal world as was their own.
As fortune would have it, Kamakura didn't have classes today, leaving him to spend the day as he wished. The nekomata wasn't interested in another sparing match. Still he had a lot on his mind, and needed a way to pass the time. Thoughts of the wild minipets that roamed the Scarefari came to mind readily as he set out that night, leaving behind his dorms. The unexpected chill in the air gave him reason to bundle up, wearing a few extra layers.
Along the way, he had the sense of being followed by something. At one point he turned, catching a glimpse of the occasional sounds he would pick up on. Narrowing his amber gaze on it he scowled for a moment, before looking away. It was a strange unknown. It was more like a lost shadow that traveled after the demon..keeping it's distance.
Kamakura spent the duration of the trek out to the wildlife preservation lands in silence, lost in thought. Before too long he could smell the scent of the woods, and things wilder than those of Halloween’s city, or even the Academy. Things were wholly wilder here within the shadowy groves of the Dark Forest of the park zone. It was one of many zones of course, each with their own features and creatures that lurked respectively.
Before he could really try and explore, or try and go about coaxing another mini to take back home, Kamakura noticed on post on a board hammered to a tree. In big bold red letters the words 'DON'T FORGET EXAMS TOMORROW" He groaned in frustration at the reminder as he sighed taking a step back as his ears laid back.
"Well isn't that just great.." The demon's tone was flat, as his tail flicked in agitation. With the forest surrounding him, he gave consideration as to where to proceed from here, as he worried at his bottom lip as he contemplated. As far as he was aware, Kamakura was alone. However, given the nature of the park it was easy enough he might find another student. Shrugging off the idea he pushed his gloved hands into his pockets as he set off on a walk to explore the area.

Kane's return to Amityville was short-lived.
The grumbling teen had hurried home after the incident, but was promptly sent back within the following week (much to his dismay). And now here he was, passing the late hours as he was wont to do at home. He left the comforts of his dorm in favor of exploring; he had an itch for it at the moment, perhaps because he was unsettled for the exams the following day or perhaps because he was just...uncomfortable, period. Whatever the case he'd wandered off in the direction of the Scarefari with no particular goal in mind except to walk.
So walk he did, for quite a while until he came upon a funny reminder about said exams, and he grumbled quite loudly. Kane successfully suppressed his desire to spout an expletive right then, though, and walked on. He wasn't nearly as satisfied with his walk, and he wasn't all that worried about waking up late considering he had no plans to sleep. The further he walked the more he could scent the forest, and strangely the more he could scent someone else, too. Maybe a minipet? Maybe someone else entirely? He tensed a bit despite himself, and stuffed his hands in his pockets as he walked on.
It wasn't long after the sign that he noticed that there was someone else in the immediate area, just in the distance. He inclined his head to try and get a better view, and when that obviously didn't work he picked up a pebble and casually tossed it at whatever-it-was. If it was just a tall minipet, it's probably just run off, right? The problem was if it wasn't just a minipet...
Unfortunately he hadn't thought that far ahead before he chucked the pebble.

It was a little amusing, he had to admit, to watch someone rage toward him. It wasn't all that smart to be yelling across a clearing in the middle of the night, but that was his fault. He shrugged it off.
As the other person--a student, as it were--came at him he crossed his arms, a brow quirked as words came spewing out of him like lava out of a volcano. While the other boil spoke Kane took the time to assess him. Feline in scent, which made his curl his lip in distaste, and ears and a tail, and even eyes, to verify that his nose wasn't wrong. Black hair, white bangs, shorter than him by a number of inches. By height alone Kane felt this other student had lost his edge, and he scratched his head when finally he finished speaking.
"I did watch, clearly well enough to make a hit," he said as he looked markedly down at the other, dismissing his concerns about putting out an eye. As if a tiny little pebble could do that kind of damage. Hah.
"Is that all?"

Off to find a minipet at this hour? There was a part of Kane that wanted to give the other credit for his dedication, and another part that wanted to snort derisively at how dedication could lead on to such ridiculous measures. He commented on behalf of neither, however, and simply shrugged it off. "Best of luck," he said, perhaps in a tone that was less sincere than he meant it to sound. He wasn't well-practiced when it came to being polite. Or manners. Or...social interaction, really.
When the first snowflake fell on bare skin he idly brushed it off and glanced skyward, his lip once again curling at the sight of the little bitty flecks of white that would offend him with more cold than he was comfortable with. Just the other day it was scorching, too, and now this. The sound of zipping filled his ears and he glanced back toward the other to regard the jacket he was in. He had his pelt and wasn't worried for warmth as much as he was worried about the safety of said pelt. He pulled it in closer and nodded.
"Kane," he shot back before he turned to go back toward his dorm. The pelt would get soaked by the snow if he stayed out for much longer, which wasn't good. It'd smell and give him a headache for days...
Brilliant.
"I suggest you turn back at this point," he then said flatly. "Not much luck to be had in snow, and with exams tomorrow..." He let the thought trail and simply walked off, as the snow started to fall far too heavily for his liking.
