Kamala felt as grass brushed against her dark fur, the Nantlil moving at a calm or sluggish pace. The day had been long. Very long. Not much had been accomplished by the merchant on her travels during the daylight hours. Well, not much in regards to selling her wares she had collected. Or at least not this day, in previous days on her long journey she had been more successful in her bartering endeavors.

With a sigh of instant relief she stepped within the confines of the merchants market within her clan. It was illuminated by a strange sort of light, the combination of crudely assembled torches lining the stalls and light from the moon birthed the image of a new scene she had never quite witnessed in her eyes. Her home looked different, beautiful and charming in it's own unique way as it always did, but it was unmistakable. Night gave her home some sort of quality that day did not.

As she drank in the new scene before her, Kamala shifted the weight that was her bag full of beautiful stones, gems, and every kind of delightful nick knack that she had found. Maybe she had been unsuccessful in selling wares during the day, but who was to say she couldn't offer them to late-night patrons?

She began to search around, to see if anyone else was awake, if there was anyone to attempt to trade items with...

Zain's paws lightly kissed the grass below him, silent steps moving him along the boarders of the clan. It was his brother and his' duty to patrol the clan's territory at night. They were knights of the Rose. Being darks they were suited best for this, their vision was the best in the dark. Their hearing had become attuned to the noises of the night. Most of their clan slept during the night so patrolling was quite easy.

His ears twitched searching for sounds that were out of the ordinary. Halting he looked up to the wall wondering where his brother was patrolling. Somewhere above no doubt. Zeke didn't have children like he was blessed with so, the male had taken to the ground where his little ones often roamed. Yet, they were quite little anymore, his two sons had grown into fine adults and now were on their own.

Moving off of his thoughts he went back to his job. Silently he moved once again moving towards the merchant district. Some would occasionally be about trying to sell their wares. The light semi blinded him, causing him to rely on his other senses, hearing mostly.

She mostly stayed in the glow of torch-light as she walked on searching for someone to pester. It wasn't as if she didn't like the darkness, she just had some minor difficulties seeing properly in it.

Yet it was no minor difficulty or trick of the mind when Kamala's brown irises settled upon the figure of a black and blue B'alam. Most notably her eyesight traveled to his wings however.

My! She had never seen anyone who had wings on their back! It was truly a new sight to see.

"Excuse me!" She called to the new fascinating stranger. "Any interesting in buying some colorful rocks? Or maybe some tasty meat slices! Mmm-mm." She made a puckering noise with her lips. "Delicious!"

Safety of the members of his clan was his first concern, many were asleep by now, however there were a few that seemed to still lurk about. Zain stayed in the shadows as the female spoke to him. His back straightened as if on a bit of an alarm, his chest puffed out a bit as the male made himself bigger. Something that often happened when he met a new face or scent. He was a Rose Knight and not just for title but because the job suited him.

This one was one he had no met before, yet as most were not out at night, he and his brother hadn't met most of those who lived in the clan. Getting to know most of the clan was a slow processes as most tried not to brave the dark of night.

Though this was not one of those times. Keeping himself calm and composed he spoke replying to the merchants statement. "No, I apologize but I will have to pass." He tried his best to be polite, his mates words ringing through his ears; 'be polite, if you wish to gain the trust of others'. Often he found he came off a bit intimidating and had asked her opinion.

He tried his best to keep eye contact but the light was burning his eyes, it caused his light blue orbs to slip close against the light. His ears in turn focused on the female before him locking in on her breath and heart beat. A skill he had learned from these nights through the light of the marketplace.

"Oh, that's a pity." Kamala said with slight disappointment hovering in her tone. Normally the earth b'alam would find reason to continue pestering the potential purchaser of her goods, offer them a deal or a discount in order to get some of the weight off her back, but this candidate buyer was different.

She was just so fascinated! Wings, on a b'alam! It'd be a lie to say she had never conjured the thought of flight before; but it seemed little more then a dream at the time. Kamala knew the wings her on her back were apart of her fur, and appeared to look like wings in pattern alone. They would not actually magically rip themselves from her body and enable her true flight- not like this b'alam who appeared to have actual wings capable of actual flight on his body.

She noted that he had his eyes shut, or at least was struggling to keep them open. She found a fleeting moment of pride when the realization hit her as to why. "Er, does the light bother you?" She asked and then squinted slightly to see beyond the B'alam in the darkness. Was that, a wall over there? Hmm. If they kept chatting then maybe it'd be best to move over that way...

Zeke indeed had been in the air on the horizon patrolling the edge of the clan's area over head. His crimson nocturnal eyes spotted the halt of his blood brother. Although he was too far to see what was going on it made him curious to why his brother would stop his patrolling. He knew how serious Zain took their job, it was even more so then he himself did.

With one powerful flap he redirected himself towards Zain. Gliding upon the night's air currents Zeke made his way over to Zain, unaware of the other whom he was speaking to. However, as he got closer the figure of the other appeared as a blob in the light. Unlike his blood brother Zeke's eyes were adjusted a bit better to light. Still it blinded him like the rest of his dark tribe members, but he felt he was more tolerant to it.

"Brother" he called out, making himself known as he made his decent upon the two. Zeke wondered if his 'sibling' had found trouble and was here to help if needed. The two guards worked quite well together as trust between them would never be broken. They woken together and their sense of family and loyalty to each other was strong.

Zain's ears shifted backwards with a bit of guilt after hearing the disappointment in the female's voice. Truthfully he did feel a bit guilty for turning her down. His mind slipped towards her first offer of colorful rocks, he wondered if Katrina would like those, perhaps he should take a closer look at her wares?

If her question about his light sensitivity surprised him he didn't show it, however he was hesitant to answer. Zain did not really like admitting to his own weaknesses. "I-" he began only to be cut off by the arrival of his 'brother'. His ears swiveled towards him at the word 'brother'. Although they weren't brothers by choice, yet Zain was not as vocal as Zeke. Usually he just called the other by name, his soul mate did the same. Zeke on the other hand liked to call them both 'brother' and 'sister' respectivly.

Kamala turned her attention to the new Tahtll who had just arrived, and a wide grin of joy ushered itself across her face.

Oh goody! Another potential customer! Better yet, he was flying! 'course standing in the torchlight made it harder to see the figure, but she could barely make out his shape against the glare from the light.

"Hello!" Kamala gave a cheerful squeak. "Would you perhaps be interested in colorful rocks or tasty meat? I've got loads of stuff to trade!" She informed him. Them. Both of them. Her eyes switched between the two winged brothers with fascination, though they both appeared to be having trouble with the light.

Hmm. "If the light really does bother you, I don't mind snuffing this torch out here." She gave a chuckle. "I'm sure my eye'll adjust to the dark."

Zeke's crimson orbs fell upon the Nahtil when she greeted him. "hello" he greeted her back. There was a pause as he considered the things she stated she had to trade. Despite only needed blood to survive as a member of the dark tribe Zeke still ate regular food, as he did not take blood with out permission. "However I don't think I have anything to trade." he admitted, even if he was interested in them.

At her last statement Zeke spoke again "We'll be fine. Light does both our eyes being members of the dark tribe, however with our black pelts I'm afraid we might just end up becoming part of the shadows." Unlike his brother he knew their weakness well and admitted it.

Zain waited until Zeke was done speaking before he interjected with his own interest in her wears. "Could I take a look at your colored rocks?" he inquired. Even though he did not have anything to trade now perhaps later he would be able to find her and have something to trade for them, if anything caught his interest.

However Zain did want to make this meeting quick so that he could get back to patrolling the grounds of the clan. The Tahtll took his job quite seriously.

"Of course!" Kamala beamed. She reached down into the bag carrying all her findings and pawed around trying to find the colorful rocks among the other contents. Good grief she needed a better way of organizing! Maybe tomorrow morning she'd get another bag to even out her wares better...

"Aha!" She exclaimed upon finding the rocks. Kamala pulled them out joyfully and held them out with her paw. The rocks were small but pretty and ranged from colors in the reds and yellows to blue and gray. The merchant had been quite proud when she had come across them glistening in the sunlight.

"Anyone of 'em in particular catch your eye?"

There were several of the rocks that had caught the dark Tah's eyes. Mainly the ones in the red to yellow range. They reminded him of his Yoliliztli. Though the blue ones were quite nice as well. "Hmm" he muttered trying to decide. Perhaps he should just chose one of each and go from there. Zain really did not know which ones Katrina would like the best. "The Blue ones are nice, but so are the Yellow and the Red ones." he began, trying to make up his mind by speaking out loud, though it really was not helping him what so ever.

Maybe this female had any suggestions for him. He was not going to ask Zeke, despite being with the male since they had awakened he knew his Yolilizti better then anyone, as they were connected. Zain also figured that a female's advice might be better then Zeke's. A small sigh came from the male, "How about one of each color" he finally replied breaking the silence again as he finally decided upon the ones he wanted.

Though now his next predicament came to mind, how was he suppose to give them to Katrina, he doubt he could just present them like this, perhaps maybe they could be made into an accessory. He would have to take it up with those who crafted, or he could try to craft it himself. Katrina would probably like that better.

"I picked the blue ones up near a river. The red and yellows ones came from near the den of an armor-crafter I met a long time ago" She informed Zain as he spoke to himself. She figured maybe knowing their origins would aid a customer in finding what they liked best. When the dark triber didn't seem to know which of the stones he preferred still Kamala tried to quickly come up with a new suggestion tactic.

"Some of the blue ones resemble your coat!" She exclaimed. Whether this was completely true or not was up to debate. With it being dark and only a torch light to help her Kamala wasn't certain she was clearly seeing the two dark tribe Tah's colouration properly. Well, even if this was true she was fairly certain that some of the rocks had colour hues similar to Zain's coat!

Kamala smiled warmly as he settled on taking one of each rock. At least now he knew he wasn't buying a coloured rock he hated. Or rather even he was buying something he didn't like he had two other products with varying colours to choose to keep still.

"Perfect!" The earth b'alam cheered. She then peered into her satchel and yanked out a small cloth. Carefully she put one of each varying hues she had with her on the cloth and then proceeded to fold it up. She'd have to fish out some string from her bag to complete her make-shift package however a more pressuring concern rose to the merchant's mind.

"How will you be paying for this today?" She asked with delight. Kamala's glance switched between the two brothers while waiting for an answer. She had yet to actually notice neither of them had any trading-materials on hand at the moment...

Now that was quite the predicament. What did they have to pay for these? Zain blue eyes glanced towards Zeke' who only seemed to shrug at the question his eyes held. "Uh." he began at a quite loss for it. they really did not have anything to pay for these stones did they. The Dark male gave a bit of a sigh before he admitted to their dilemma. "I'm afraid we do not have anything to trade with."

Protection on her journey was the only thing that came to mind, however since they were Knights of the 'clan' they couldn't travel far from these claimed lands. It was quite the predicament indeed.

Oh dear. Now this was problematic. Kamala frowned at her would-be customers. She needed to think up some sort of means of how they would be pay her for her merchandise!

It would be easy enough to turn around, say no deal and then go find new customers. Yet Kamala didn’t want to do that. It would be just be plain bad for business if word got about that she had turned away a couple guards who were looking at her wares…

Her face suddenly lit up as an idea formulated in her head. “What if we do a payment plan?” She inquired to them. “You take the stones-” she pushed her folded up package-thing closer to Zain, “-and at a set time you make smaller payments to me until you no longer owe me anything!” Kamala smiled widely in hopes that they would take this deal.

But what if they didn’t like that arrangement?

“Or- if you’d rather I could just hold them for.” She voiced quickly, almost rushed as the thoughts spurred through her mind. “That way you have time to collect your payment and hand it over all at once instead of making small payments here and there. Does that sound good?”
