The many wharves of the Cornwall Trading Port loomed in the darkness, eerie fingers of giants that reached out to grasp at the ocean. The waters of the bay, normally shining in the moonlight, were dark like a grey shroud stretching across the horizon. The moon lay hidden behind a wall of cloud, the shadows of the night, unbroken save for the glittering firelight of the torches carried by patrolling guardsmen.

They were few and far between, for the men of light and good were all at rest. Now, the men of night emerged.

Silent as the fabled Flying Dutchman, the twin-masted schooner Harlock's Brandy swept into the harbor. Greeted only by the assistant harbormaster on night duty, the crew of the Brandy began to unload their many wares onto waiting wagons bound for the port warehouses, where they would sit until the market opened in the morning, Normally a scene of noise and cheer, the men were silent as they went about their business. Every so often, one of the men would break the silence to hurry his comrades, cursing the blasted cold and wishing for a warm tavern to get drunk in.

In the midst of the commotion, a shadowed figure padded down the gangway and into the dock proper. In his left hand, an envelope was loosely held, edges fluttering with the chill wind. Ahead, the yawning morass of the Cornwall Ghetto loomed just past the walls of the Cornwall Trading Port, foreboding like the untamed wilderness. Here, even the Cornwall Guard trod lightly.

Dear Mr Warwick,

As agreed upon, you are to head to the Cornwall Ghetto immediately after the Harlock's Brandy calls into port. Within, one of our envoys will contact you with further instructions and "tools", if need be. Draw no attention to yourself and ensure that you are not followed to the meeting point, or our envoy will leave and the agreement considered broken.

To a beneficial partnership.

Signed,
John Doe

The wind blew strong in the depths of the night, yet, it blew low enough to keep the torches aflame to light the area around the harbor. The silent night, followed by footsteps from the shadows behind the tavern. Warwick's eyes glowed from the shadows as he took a peek towards the harbor, keeping his eyes there while patiently waiting for the schooner to arrive and dock. A sigh came out from between his lips before he looked at the signed contract. "Where is this ship..", muttered Warwick to himself as he folded the contract and kept it in his pocket.

Moments passed, Warwick was busy cleaning his blade in the dark alleyway. He took a brief look towards the port and much to his surprise, Harlock's Brandy was already there and was unloading. "s**t, I'm late.", again he muttered to himself as he sheathed his katana. Warwick pulled his hood and covered his head before making his way towards the Cornwall Ghetto. Avoiding the main road, Warwick used the alleyway route to avoid any detection by the guards, although it would take a longer time to reach his destination. A suspicious man with a katana in his hand during midnight? That will surely get himself in trouble no doubt. But he knew, sooner or later he had to get past the walls of the Cornwall Trading Port to get to the Cornwall Ghetto.

And he was right. Warwick peeked out of the dark alleys to see if there are guards around. Sure, there was a few, but it would be fine if Warwick kept low and doesn't make a scene. Walking at a normal pace, Warwick walked the road towards the Cornwall Ghetto without looking around to avoid raising suspicion. He would make sure that his katana would blend with his dark clothes so that nobody would notice he was carrying a weapon.

As he crossed the wall, he took a whiff of the surrounding. A foul stench, yet normal for Warwick loomed the Cornwall Ghetto. His eyes looked around the area in search of the agent amidst the darkness of the Ghettos. A figure, rather suspicious looking one caught his eyes and somehow, his instinct was pulled towards the figure. He slowly made his way towards the figure, without any feel of cautious. As he approached the figure, he would make sure that his horn could be seen by the shadowed figure to show a mark that he was Warwick Dunewalker.

Having not noticed the man approaching until he was within 5 meters, the cloaked figure flinched as he beheld the sight of Dunewalker looking directly at it, horn prominently displayed. Visibly shaking off his shock, the diminutive entity quickly glanced around to check for any observers hiding in the many shadows. Apparently satisfied, the agent left his position at a hut's wall and sidled up to the half-demon mercenary.

"You are Mister Warwick Dunewalker, yes?" The Minato courier muttered in a hissing voice laced with obscuring magicks, making his voice nigh impossible to identify. Within the figure's voluminous shroud, a hidden hand-sized crossbow rested in his hand, barbed bolt ready to lance through the fabric concealing it and kill the man, should he not be the hired assassin he was waiting for.

Warwick paused for a while as the figure asked that if it was him. His eyes locked unto the dark entity, despite not seeing it's eyes. The man's hand grasped his katana tighter as he moved closer to the suspicious figure. " Depends on who I'm talking to.", said the man with a deep voice. His gaze deepens, as his eyes glowed bright from the fade lighting caused by a nearby torch, as if injecting fear into the one he's talking to.

Once again, a soft wind blew around them. A cold sting of the midnight breeze could easily be felt on one's skin. Even so, Warwick doesn't seem to flinch. Slowly, he backed off from the mysterious figure while his eyes are still locked on him. " I'm aware that my name isn't really that...notable in this region.", said Warwick as he moved his right palm on top of his katana's hilt. Grasping it softly, his eyes shifted towards the midnight skies above. " Either you're the one who called me here, or someone that has been hired to hunt me down, just like the rest of my...'kind'. ", added Warwick before letting out a sigh, waiting for an answer.

"Ah, no worries, no worries. Just confirming, yes?" The cloaked figure frantically backpedaled, waving his(its?) hands in a placating gesture. Clearly, this was no master spy. "Yes, yes. you are Mister Dunewalker. Apologies." The hissing sound of the agent's voice was beginning to grate on the ears, even as he apologized with a wary eye on Dunewalker's katana.

Straightening its cloak with an awkward cough, the figure harrumphed to cover its apparent embarrassment and reached within its garments. "Ah, here it is," the courier murmured as it extracted a sheaf of parchment, proffering it to the half-demon sellsword. "your mission, with other useful details gathered by our... friends."

"Please, do not read it aloud." The agent reminded with a whisper as it backed off, constantly watching the surroundings and fidgeting.

Dear Mr Warwick,

As agreed upon, you are to infiltrate the Garrington residence tonight and dispose of Count Garrington before sunrise. You are reminded to remain unseen as much as possible, using mundane weaponry and methods to silence the Count and anyone who notices you. Under no accounts should you be seen using your unearthly skills, silence them with whatever means necessary without exacerbating the situation.

First, you will have to crest the Central Wall separating the Cornwall Ghetto from Cornwall proper, without alerting the guards and the mounted garrisons nearby. Should the Center Wall be alarmed, the entire town will be on high alert and approaching the Garrington Manor will be impossible. After that, you are to travel through the streets to get to the Manor, taking care to dodge the roving road patrols in the way. You might come across the Cornwall Marketplace on the way, you are advised to avoid it due to the many guards there. However, we will not object if you wish to enter and "procure" something, as long as the mission is not compromised.

The Manor itself is guarded and its interior unknown to us, you will have to improvise when you reach it. Useful tools such as grappling hooks and lockpicks have been provided, obtain it from our courier if needed. Once the Count is dealt with, you are to hide in Cornwall until evening the next day, whereupon you will return to this location and receive your payment from our courier there.

Due to the Arlington Fair which was held at noon today, many of the guards are not present and the remaining few drunk or weary. They should not cause too much trouble and should not necessitate long-term preparations for this mission. Should you miss this opportunity, Cornwall's heavier security prevents another attempt. Finish the job in one go.

To a beneficial partnership.

Signed,
John Doe

"At least you're not one of them. That's a relief.", said Warwick as he let out a low chuckle. The grip to his katana loosens and Warwick stretched his hand, grabbing the parchments. His hand gently grasped it and pulled it close before observing it's content.

After a brief silence of reading the information, Warwick pulled a torch nearby into his other hand and burned the sheaf, permanently sealing the deal. It all burned and perished into ashes, the smell of burnt paper lingered around them. "I have my own method of dealing with these things.", murmured Warwick, indicating that he doesn't need any extra equipment to finish the job as it could slow him down. His head nodded towards the sky, looking at the moon as a guidance for the time. "And I don't have much time left..", added Warwick before looking at the shrouded figure as 'it' backed off.

"Well, off I got then.", said Warwick to the figure as he placed the torch back to it's holder. As he took a step, Warwick took a sudden stop and again looked back at the figure past his shoulder. "Oh I almost forgot, and tell your 'boss' that, we'll have a one long pleasant chat sooner or later.", said Warwick in a really deep tone before inhaling an amount of air to blow the torch, extinguishing it's fire. As the area dimmed down into the dark, Warwick's shadow slowly blended into the surrounding. Thus, making his way towards the Central Wall.
