Warmth. So much warmth. And warm smelling things. The scent of the wind as it rushed through the grasses. The glaring sunlight through half opened eyes. Bugs buzzing here and there, long golden grass tickling a pale pink nose, the sun beating down on endless rolling hills. All of this and more could be seen by the pale blue eyes of the newly awoken B'alam. Pupils slit as she slowly opened her eyes fully, raising her powdery pink head and twitching her pale blue ears. She could hear the grass move and bend with the wind, not to mention see and smell, as it rolled in waves across the plains with each large gust of wind.

Her pelt ruffled by said wind, the young female turned her head slowly to each side. The hills continued on and on for as far as she could see. Here and there she spotted erratic movement that she could only assume was prey. Prey! Her stomach rumbled, making her look down and lick her chest fur in embarrassment. But why? There was no one nearby. Her cheeks grew warm when she realized there was no one else there. But then.... Wait, she really was alone. Eyes flickered across the landscape, ocassionally dotted here and there with trees and bushes. She couldn't see anyone else. Was that a good thing? Or a bad? She frowned, tilting her head to the side, ears half flat against her head in thought.

Her stomach grumbled again, bringing her back to the present. She was going to have to find food. Maybe she could try that clump of trees not too far away. After all, she had woken in the middle of the plains amongst the grass. Practically out in the open, had she not been laying down. Slowly, she pushed herself to her paws. Wriggling her toes one at a time, she felt her claws unsheath and push themselves into the dirt beneath her. Pulling a paw out, she inspected the dirt before shaking it off. She shook her entire pelt rather thoroughly as she began to stretch. How long had she been laying there? Long enough to make her hungry, apparently.

Once more, she spotted the copse of trees she planned to hunt beneath. Starting off towards them, it wasn't until she was closer that she began to stalk through the grass, eyes and ears just barely over the tops of the tall grass as she stalked. How did she know how to stalk? Well, it just.... came easily to her. As easily as breathing, walking, and thinking. Sure, everything was new. But she could experience it all in due time. Meanwhile, she needed to eat.

Once she was beneath the trees, her eyes scanned back and forth. But alas, everything seemed to be either underground, or in the trees. And she didn't want to bother with the trees right now. Besides, she could smell something cleaner nearby. Crisper. Following her nose, she stumbled upon a decent sized puddle of water. Lapping it up, she sat beside it afterwards and thought to herself. Where would she go now? Were there others like her out here? How would she find them? And WHERE WAS ALL THE PREY?!

It had been a cozy lazy day for Mordecai, but then again most every day was a lazy day for him. Just how he liked it. The Tahtll was a lackadaisical one, he could be found most often laying in the shade of the many trees that decorated the plains. Which, it just so happened that is where the b'alam was. His earthy colors did well to hid him, lazily in the branches. Golds and browns almost seemed to blind into the scenery that surrounded the trees.

A long brown stripped tail, slipped past the branch where he perched. A tip of the tail, twitched as the lazy bones found it too bothersome to bring his tail back up into the tree. Slowly he tip of the tail twitched back and forth. Why, should he even bother to do so, it wasn't like b'alam knew of any danger in such a early life on the planet. Right?

Right.

A yawn passed the tahtll's maw, as he woke from his nap. Yellow, and green eyes opened partly to look down at the plains below him. Ear twitched slightly as he thought he could hear something nearby, but he didn't pay it no mind as he subtly turned his head to rest on the other side of his paw.

The sun that shined though the branches and delightfully warmed his golden fur to the 'just right' temperature. Ears twitched slightly as his own spirit sensed another was nearby, and just like before it was that of a Nahtill. A eye once more lazily cracked, as luck would have it, he didn't need to shift in his lay at all to see what was below him.

What was below him was a small puddle, and just as before a brightly colored b'alam. Though, this one didn't have the appendages that stretched out from her back, just like him. Which, was a welcomed sight the other one seemed for lack of a better word, 'flighty'. Another yawn caused Mordie's maw to stretch open and his tongue to curl. His head once more turned over the branch as he closed his eyes once more.

It was too bothersome to get down, to great the other one. However to his sudden displeasure, a hind paw slipped past its rest on the branch to dangle with his tail. A annoyed breath left the Tahtll as he picked up his head to look down at his traitorous paw. Last time that happened....

There was a second groan that left the branch,

Mordecai's body flinched with a familiar anticipation, to what was to happen after such a sound left most trees he had dwelled in the past. His body was no longer that of a lazy tired one, no he was ridge and prepared to come clashing down to b'alam at any moment.

Slowly, vary slowly the Tahtll rose, and his tail arched, curling into a bow.

Carefully. large paws shifted to turn himself around...

There was another crack, that let the branch and with a alarmed bound Mordecai's paws sprung from the trunk and propelled him to the ground.

In a soft 'thud' the Tahtll landed in the brush under the tree, just a few paces behind the nahtil as she dank. Tail shifted and curled around his body, as he took a sit on his hunches. His left front paw, raised where he casually lifted it to stroke the back of it with his tongue.

The plains shimmered with sunlight, and would ever so often reflect brilliantly off of the silver and gold mask of a chronicler that perched ever so quietly in a tree. The on looker, had just managed to slip away as the freshly new b'alam woke in her and started to experience her given existence. It had been perfect timing, but however it was not the first time the watcher had witnessed another life being woven into being by the weaver. Thought just as before it was amazing, and not to mention fascinating. It was truly miraculous! Personal feelings, hoped to one day witness idols coming to life. That however, was a story and a desire for another time, for this was this new b'alam's time....

Best to not be distracted....

Azure, and grass-kissed eyes looked passed the branches and leaves silently at the pink and soft azure b'alam. Before and not a chance passed where the Tahtll was able to quietly pull out his journal and pen, before the nahtill had taken off.

Well, now....

Stopping his thoughts, the watcher waited some time before he quietly slipped down the tree. She would need to be followed, if he hope to have a moment of history captured, for another to read. Claws made this task very easy couple with the stealth he had learned in becoming a chronicler. Or was it that it was naturally ingrained? One, found he didn't think too hard about it. He just knew, he like all b'alam were blessed with innate skills that just came to all of them. Skills like, stealth, stalking, talking, flying and hopping, carving and prey bopping.

A soft breath left the Chronicler past the underside of the mask, in silent instant the tahtll hopped in the air and his wings shot opened. With a flap he took to the sky. It wasn't ideal, as he couldn't do this fancy and learned thing called: 'writing' while flying. Tricky thing that....and well, not yet anyways, perhaps one day soon. Paws pulled up to the underside of his body, as his teal eyes skillfully watched the nahtil at a distant. He found it mournful, that he couldn't capture every moment and expression, but he could see what was going on and make time to record it later. Thank the Weaver for his memory.

It wasn't long before he watched the Nahtll made herself hidden in the tall brush of the grass, a skilled watcher could easily assume that she was preparing to hunt. And why not? She was just now woven, and such a thing could make one hungry. Circling around in the sky, the Chronicler found a nearby by tree. Paws stretched out and wings angled as he did his best to land on the trunk of the tree and in doing so land quietly.

As he took his landing, a spray of a few paroos shot free from the branches having been disturbed by the tahtll's landing. Blinking under the mask, the Chronicler remained very still for a moment of time, for just an extra amount of insurance so as to not be found. After a certain amount of time passed the brown balam's tail ticked and twisted off to the side. To gain more purchase to the tree and his hold. Releasing a breath, the watcher turned himself to look where his own sight prey had gotten too.

~Ah.

Teal eyes spotted the pink dot in the distance taking time to have a drink of water. Finely tuned thoughts caused him to open the pouch that hung steadfastly around his neck. The movement was followed by one he had practiced it so many times before, it made pulling out the worn chronicler's journal for recording, a mindless one. A feathered quill floated aloft, fresh with ink and poised for writing.

~Now where to start...?

A smile shown under the mask, and the writing tool quickly began to screw letters on afresh page. One that had been set apart for this b'alam and this very moment. His feather pen moved swiftly to record and catch up between the moment of first seeing her, to now and her hunt for prey.

The chronicler had become so costumed with writing, that his teal gaze didn't need to tend to his writing so often. Which he found was great skill to have, especially while recording the constant moving of another. Nothing that was too much of a bother, of course. He was trained for such a thing...

Darker Ears shifted to the sound of a creaking, and faint snapping of a limb. Luckily, it didn't sound of have broken. Teal eyes moved with the turning of his head, ears turned and perked, all the more attentive to what he might be able to see. It was a moment passed, and his sharp eyes took in the sight of a second b'alam. Barely, as his rich colors had done well to hide him in the brush of the plains. For it was only his movement that had given him away at such a distance.

The writers' tool shifted across the page quickly, taking account of the event. His spirit help had to the description of the character, telling him that it was a tahtll. Again, such another useful skill.

Taking in a quiet breath, the watcher remained silent as his tail twitched ever so slightly with anticipation. He couldn't be found out, or this whole moment in history would be ruined-tainted and changed. The chronicler had to be careful and keep his distance. His finely tuned ears tried as he might to pick up any words that he might be able to hear, yet there was nothing. Not even a faint mumble of a sound. Not even a greeting from the tahtll to the nahtill.

His pen as if to have a mind of it's own recorded even such a small detail.

What adventure did indeed wait for these two and a chance meeting such as this....
