Suniki sat on a high ledge, a hot wind blowing off the vent nearby, obscuring him from time to time. There was a vent from the volcano on either side of him, actually, but the one had lava caked over the top of it. It was mildly worrying, if there was molten rock this high, but he wasn't really stressed about it. He just turned his face into the wind, and let the heat soak into his bones. He loved it up here, so he came often. It was something, the combination of the wind and the warmth, that always brought him back.

He loved the heat. It was in his blood to want to be close to his home, to watch the rock flow by, bright in some places, dark in others.

But he also liked the wind, and wished sometimes that the wings on his back were real so that he could see the world the way the Wind Tribe could. However, as wistful as he was sometimes, he knew that was never going to happen. Imagine it, yes, especially this high up where the world seemed to go on forever before him, everything so small below him.

Suni laid down and rested his head on his paws, watching the world below. It was always entertaining to be up here, to watch. And to hunt. Benefits of a birds eye view, he supposed. There was nothing worth moving for, though, at the moment. He wasn't hungry, or thirsty, and he didn't feel much like chasing anything that was smaller than he was.

He wouldn't mind some company, though. Just him and the mountain could get lonely, at times.

Aodhnait was picking her way along a path, or what they could make for a path. Many Fire Tribe B'alam came this way and it had left a path to follow, but the heated mountain continuously dropped rock and occasionally spilled lava over it, making it difficult to follow at times. She was used to this, frequently climbing the mountain to varying heights and often straying off the path when it became blocked. This time it was clear and her paws padded along quietly, scattering bits of rock that littered the ground. She was climbing higher than she usually did, but it wasn't something that bothered her at all. She felt right at home.

Bits of steam and smoke rose from a vent above her, obscuring her view as she climbed still higher. Suddenly the smoke shifted and a B'alam appeared, another of the Fire Tribe with a light coat and red markings. Heat shimmered around him and washed over her, warming her from head to paw. "Oh! I'm sorry. I didn't know anyone was up here." While that was true, she had often seen this one climbing up high. She was not entirely surprised to run into him, though she also was not expecting to come quite so close. Aodhnait was friendly enough, but she hardly made a habit of approaching others, unless by mistake as she had now. "I'm sorry to interrupt," she said, trying her best to be polite before turning to climb a bit higher and leave the male to his thoughts.

Suniki had watched her approach, eyes slitted so he could see through the steam. His vantage point offered him many advantages, being able to see down the path that most used to travel this high was only one of the benefits. He had no qualms about meeting others, usually liking to charm whoever he met. IT was a fun bit of game, but he rarely ran into others up here. Suniki didn't mind, not at all, he was just a little surprised.

Smiling at the lovely lady, he raised his head to regard her. "There usually isn't anyone up here, it's one of the perks, honestly." He sat up slowly, stretching out his front paws, scratching his claws against the rock he was laying on. "However, it is rather nice to see another soul up here." Roling his shoulders, he sank back down, relaxed and content. He really did enjoy it up here, the heat and the height. "Not many find their way up here. What brings you up here? Most wouldn't travel for the view, like I do."
