It wasn't too far from the capital, but it was the first time he had set paw from his tribe's lands. Soon he would need to gather the first of the walking waters to follow where the rivers would run across the face of the land. It would be the very first pilgrimage of his tribe. There would be fear, hesitation, and perhaps even a little resentment among those that had awakened blessed with the weaver's gems and a heart for the rains but there were some like himself who's hearts ran with the rivers. Others, he knew, would have hearts as consistent and still as the mirror-lake itself. Still others would find themselves somewhere in between, hearing only the turmoil of storms within themselves.
There were many bodies of water to follow from the main source, many directions to go. Some rivers chased the moon while others reached out towards the horizon where the son rose. Some stretched to the mountains while still others cut across the flat plains. He had to consider the first path carefully and, perhaps, observe the first steps of the road for any sign of danger.
The magus walked along the edge of a large but still slow-flowing river. The storm had passed and the skies had cleared with only a few idle whispers of white streaking across the endless blue. The rain had come and gone, leaving the earth itself dotted with dew. The air had a fresh, clean scent and the land seemed somehow washed clean. Behold the power of water...
He smiled a little and paused to trail the river with his gaze. It was pretty straight forward, never winding too far one way or another. Perhaps later on it would... or it would find a steep drop and spill in a thundering roar into the valleys. Only the weaver himself could know.

The Rose Chief had to get out of the territory of his own Clan every once in a while. There was still so much to do, the task could feel overwhelming at times and nothing was more relaxing than a nice long walk about. His Nantlil covered for him no matter how long he was gone for, she had his back like that, but one of them always had to maintain present. One time he was absent for a just short of a week, and he certainly heard all about it when he returned. To keep the peace with his own soul-bound he tried to limit his expeditions to no more than three days; but he tried to get a little farther each time he left.
His current objective was to see if he could reach the Water Capitol and get back before his time was up. The challenge was that none of the Water Tribesman that he had crossed paths with were able to provide him with information he could understand clearly. Things like 'Walk along the widest river until the mild brooke than take the steady stream' was pretty much gibberish to his ear. But none-the-less, Ajax gave it his full effort to identify these markers they spoke of, so far to no avail.
Off in the distance Ajax's silver eyes landed on a larger than normal greyish body. How perplexing, was it an illusion? Never before had he encountered such a B'alam. This demanded further investigation while he still had the chance. Heading in the direction of the other, he called to hopefully avoid some sort of chasing scenario.
"Pardon me, there!"
