This part time work was killing him, while he wasn't doing any of the cooking he was working at a place in the food court at the maul. Lifting things, moving things and washing dishes. Just a little work so he could save up some silver seeds for the upcoming events at school. It was weird when he had time to think about it, him working of all creeple, and actually working at that.
On a deep sigh he punched the clock, moving lazily out with a tower of food towards one of the empty tables the court hosted for patrons. The uniform from work clinging to his body from sweat and due to being far to muscular for the size given, which he was pretty sure was plotted due to the snickering ghouls that manned the front of the shop. Taking a seat he started to eat, knowing his lunch wasn't long, though blue eyes did shift with each bite watching the faces that passed and hoping no one he knew caught him.
So far he had been lucky, Jory bought he was busy and all of his friends didn't really ask.

Unfortunately for the somewhat hiding boil, that day hosted a rare visitor to the maul. Mostly bare feet moved quietly over the smooth floor, feathers of both outfit and familar perched on her shoulder ruffled now and then. The school campus had been a bore, and curiosity had gotten the better of her to finally poke around in the maul. Mostly window shopping, or scoffing at the insane prices on things. Forty silver seeds for that shirt? Ugh. She knew places to find similar for like four seeds. C'mon now. Though a few stores had smarter deals and more convenient prices, her eventual prowling did prove that much.
She only sported one small bag, fabric scraps that were further on clearance sale. She'd already figured how she'd rework a few into new shirts and skirts, and any remaining Cras had already put a claim on for his nest. A workable system for the two. And even as the crow's eyes paused now and then to really peer at bobbles and babbles that sparked his interest, the reaper had her attention tuned to the food court.
Which meant she knew she'd be spending a while wandering between the different shop fronts, peering at each menu and weighing her options. How much bang for her buck she could really get. Perhaps a bit extreme even for her minimal budget.... but hey. Everyone had their quirks.
She'd been staring at one menu full of rice and veggies and weird meats before Cras nudged her, moving a wing to motion to one of the tables. Her gaze followed the feathers, lighting on dark skin and blue hair. And scales. Took her a moment, but when the recognition hit she moved from the shop front towards the table, not even bothering to give much of a greeting beyond "Well this is interesting," before she slid into the seat opposite the boil.
"Last I saw you was at the doomed tower. Good to see you're still ticking." She was being polite. Sort of. Smiling friendly enough. Not looking at the food in front of him.
The crow on her shoulder on the other hand was peering quite intently at the massive pile, already wondering how fast the boil was and did he really need to consume so much~?

Hearing a feminine voice at first he ignored the call, then another body occupied the table. Blinking up with barbecue sauce dripping from the corner of his mouth the boil stared for a moment. A lick followed the look and then his gaze flickered up to the crow upon the ghouls shoulder. Zaire recognized her, but for the life of him couldn't recall the name he had been given.
"You too..." The slow draw of words was followed by a pull of meat and hold up to the familiar. "...Shopping?" The question was posed due to the single bag she held, food offered to the familiar in politeness, he had forgot their names after all, and the stare was kind of creeping him out.

It at least didn't seem like anyone she'd met there had permanently died, so that was at least.... good. Not that she had any personal stakes in any of their existences, but it was an interesting development to run into a familiar face so far from her usual stomping grounds. Besides. She liked catching people off guard, something she'd apparently done when he'd stared at her like that.
Though she did frown a bit at the offered meat till she saw it wasn't for her. Cras was quick to dart forward and snatch the morsel up in his beak. "Nice of you," the bird remarked cheerfully after swallowing the bit, leaning forward a little on her shoulder to peer at the boil rather than his food now.
"Wow. And I wasn't even trying to steal food." Kailey rose a brow at her familar's bold antics, though gave the monster little more than a glance and a shrug that could either be translated as indifferent or apologetic--she didn't really have a particular leaning either way.
"That's because you're cruel. To answer your question yes, we were shopping a bit today. Nothing large, just a few bits."
When Cras paused to flick his gaze up and down the boil's shirt and then glance around at some of the shop fronts around them, it was the reaper who spoke up. "You work here?" Her finger went from his uniform to the matching store front, complete with staring ghouls. Kailey followed their gaze and clicked her tongue. "Now are you the sample dish guy because that's a smart marketing move."

Zaire marveled slightly at the speed of the familiar. It was like a delicious little minipet, his eyes lingered a touch darker on the bird. Blinking the thought eating it back the monster took another huge bite of his meal. Hand groping blindly for his drink as he watched the pair before him, a smile coming up as the Ghoul commented about stealing his food. "Might lose a hand..if you tried that..." He teased, but kind of meant it all things considered.
At the mention of working here Zaire winced slightly and commented lowly, "kind of..mind keeping that between us?" Clearly he was embarrassed but then a glance of shoulder and her comment about a smart marketing move had him pulling out of awkward for a laugh. "No..they tried but got pissed when I ate all the free samples." Grinning he took a long sip and shrugged, "I do..the leg work." The monster stretched back and gave the ghoul a look over, smart move huh, he didn't know if that was meant as flirty as it sounded but hey she was cute.
