Dysmas had been planning this since the beach party. It had been hard to keep his mate from finding out his plans, but he hoped it would be worth it. The bright sunset male hoped his mate was ready for this step. They hadn't talked about it for awhile. All he could do was offer her the chance. If not, then he would simply wait until she was. He smiled fondly thinking of Lulah, his pretty sea girl.

The cry of a bird brought him back to his task at paw. Saying he had a surprise for her, he had asked her to wait inside their cave home while he set it up. And he'd made her promise not to peak with a wink. Dysmas moved out of sight of the cave entrance and rolled out a nice woven mat for them to lay on. Along one edge he carefully, and gently, placed around ten blocks of driftwood.

Each piece was roughed out into a semi-rectangular shape of about the same size. It had taken days to find the driftwood for them all. Satisfied that all was in place, he glanced at the sun. It was just starting to set. All was ready. Dysmas went back into his home to lead his mate out.

"I know we haven't exactly talked about this Lulah, but I thought maybe tonight would be a good time to try." He looked at her hopefully, knowing he would do whatever she wanted.

Tallulah followed her mate out of their cave home, Dysmas had told her that he was planning a surprise for her. But, as curious as she was about what he was planning she had promised she wouldn't peek. So, a small sigh was released that she wasn't even aware that she was holding. She tilted her head to the side lightly as he led her towards a nicely woven mat laid out surrounded by drift wood. He was right they had never talked about it, but it was something she was happy about, she saw it as an adventure in their life.

She swished her tail to and fro idly, it looked like ten roughly carved out pieces of driftwood surrounded the mat. She padded over and stood beside her mate "this must have taken you a long time to find all these pieces by yourself, I appreciate the effort." She smiled and nuzzled him lightly. She was open to the idea, but she wasn't sure what they were for and she didn't want to seem like she was not aware of what was going on, she had a rough idea. If her senses were right this was about starting a family with Dysmas, the idea of having a family with the sunset male that completed her, brought a smile.

"I thought we might give it a try if you want." He said softly. Though he thought she might be happy about it, he wanted to be sure. This wasn't something he wanted to rush her into. Still he puffed up at her praise. "Only a few days. I had to be sure you had a nice variety to choose from if you wanted to carve some idols tonight."

The male lead his mate onto the mat and gestured for her to lay down facing the blocks of wood. She was bracketed by the sun setting on one side and her sunset mate on the other. Dysmas grinned. He glanced at the different pieces of wood and wondered which one she'd choose first to work on.

"I think that is a wonderful idea" she told him with a smile. She padded onto the mat and laid down facing the blocks of driftwood. She thought about which one to work first, but she wasn't sure which one they all looked like they had great potential. "Well, they all look lovely. How did you find time between planning the beach party and now?" She asked curious to know.

It took her few seconds to choose which one, to start with. She ended up choosing the one closest to her front paws. She swished her tail to and fro and hummed quietly as started to work on the intricate pattern that made up the idols.

He gave a happy purr. This was what he'd hoped to hear. Dysmas settled himself onto the mat beside Lulah. He watched her and glanced at all the different blocks of wood. The male chuckled softly and leaned close. "Not yet dear. After you get your claws into them then they'll be lovely."

Dysmas watched her choose the closest block. He helped by holding the block or carving away small bits as she worked. "How many do you want to do?" His tail twitched lazily behind him. He was looking forward to seeing if these idols gained life, but first he was going to enjoy the time with his mate he spent carving them.

"That is a very good point." She answered lightly. She paused in the midst of her carving and nuzzled him affectionately. She then went back to work, wondering if they were lucky enough the would gain life, she was thrilled about starting a family with her beloved mate.

She thought about it thoughtfully before speaking up " how many do you want?" She asked him tilting her head to side a little to see if all the edges around the idol were the same. She was pleased with spending time with her mate and so far it was a romantic one.

Dysmas chuckled. He knew she would carve beautiful idols for them. She was beautiful, so how could she not? He took a moment to return the nuzzle then steadied the block again. The pounding of the surf sounded in his ears and soothed him.

He made a few delicate shavings to help define the shape of the idol. "Hmmm how about 5-6? Give some options." The male figured the cravings would all take some time to complete. Perhaps even days to get them all done. He'd make sure they set time aside to work on them every day.

Tallulah nodded her head "I think 6 should be good; its always good to have even numbers so one isn't left out" she told him lightly. She swished her tail to and fro as she did the finishing touches of the first idol and set it to the side. She glanced at him "now your, turn" she said letting him choose. That way they would both have opinions on which one to do next.

It would be a lot work but by the end of it they all would looks so lovely, she smiled at the thought and really hoped they would be lucky this time around to get life breathed into the idols, until then they were just hollow.

Time skip?

He grinned, "I always thought having a few extras never hurt either." Dysmas chuckled as she finished the idol and insisted he pick one. Glancing over the block he choose a block of darker wood. "Lets do this one," he murmured and pulled it closer. He'd really liked the dark wood when he'd found it.

Carefully he began to scrape away the wood in dark curls. A glance at the setting sun told him they might not finish this one tonight as the light was fading. He roughed out the shape and let Lulah decide what needed more work. "Looks like we're running out of daylight dear. Shall we put this on hold and continue later?"

Sure

"well, its just if we had a odd number then one would be left out and lonely . But, if we had a even number then all of them would be included." she told him nodding her head. She held onto the piece of wood he was carving before shifting her gaze towards the sun setting, he was right they were running out of daylight.

She nodded her head lightly "yes, we shall put this one on hold and continue later when there is more day light" she said lightly flicking her tail to and fro idly. She stretched out a little to loosen up any muscles that were cramping up from lying in one position for too long.

He wasn't totally sure that's how it worked, but he has no prior experience with caring idols. She was caring and loving and that was what mattered to him. The Grand Weaver would do what he'd do. Dys would be grateful for any idols breathed life into them. For now though they needed to focus on getting the idols carved.

He laughed and shook shavings from his coat. "Come along then Lulah. We'll get these tucked into bed and start fresh in the morning." Dys gestured for her to grab the completed idol as he carefully picked up the work in progress one. He led the way to a small niche that would be perfect to hold them until they were done carving all the idols. Dys gestured she should get ready for bed while he finished putting the other blocks away. "I'll join you shortly."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The following morning, Dys made sure they had a nice big breakfast, with plenty left over for lunch. "Ready to get back to work Lulah?" As if carving idols was hardly work. It was more tedious. The wood was harder than he'd expected so carving it into the proper shape took longer. He gave himself a good stretch first.
Tallulah blew away the shavings that surrounded her fore paws to clear up her workspace. She really hoped that the weaver would breathe life into the idols that they were working hard to complete. She took in a light breath and blew it out.
She glanced at Dysmas and nodded her head "alright, sounds like a good idea to me" she said standing and stretching out her muscles in her back and in her back legs. "Don't take too long" she said with a wink before padding back to their cave to get ready for bed.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Tallulah woke up to the smell of breakfast wafting through out their cave she yawned a little and glanced at her sunset mate. "Yes, I'am" she told him lightly before stretching from the night's rest. Carving idols was definitely something that was a tedious task.

Dysmas grinned happily. She sounded like she was enjoying this. He nudged her food over to her. "Eat well so we can focus on those idols." He had planned to put up some palm fronds to provide shade while the worked. Then at noon they could break for more food and take a swim in the ocean. Yes it was going to be a lovely day.

The sunset male swished his tail. "When your finished come on out. I have stuff to do." With a wink at his mate, he slipped outside. Dys gathered up some large fronds and straight-ish sticks. Digging the sticks into the sand to hold it up and layering the fronds over it to create a nice lean-to. It'd be perfect once it got hotter out. For now the morning sun felt nice against his pelt. He laid out their blanket. The completed idols went on one side, the un-chosen blocks on the other, and the idol in progress in the middle. He looked at it with satisfaction as he waited for Lulah.

Tallulah watched her mate leave the cave curiously that little sneak always had plans in his head. She shook her head lightly and grinned before glancing down at the food he so lovingly prepared. She munched down her breakfast before stretching again and padding out.

She looked around and spotted him under what looked like a canopy to provide shade for them as they worked on the idols, it was neatly set up with the completed idols to one side and the incompleted ones to another side and the one they were currently working on was in the middle. She grinned once again at smiled.
