User ImageEver since waking up in a hollow in the ground during a storm, Tonalhuiteca had always thought of himself as...mysterious. He'd watched the storm overhead, lightning reflected and refracted in his pale eyes, and lay in his hollow long after the water had pooled up to his neck. Since then, Tonalhuiteca had been...himself. Self-contained, a wanderer, seeking and receiving nothing. He did not pour out his heart, he did not speak his mind. Instead, he let his tongue be a vessel for stories. He was an entity, nothing more. That, at least, was how he liked to think of himself. He didn't travel in groups; after a quick sip of blood, he'd leave under cover of sleep. In this way, he kept himself aloof. In this way, he kept himself from getting too attached, from destroying his ability to channel tales. It was also how he preferred to live. It fit in with his own identity.

Part of that identity, he had to admit, was just a little the fact that he was made of Dark Tribe. He was blind as they were in light, he was could fly, and required blood for his fast metabolism. He didn't drink much, making him more lethargic than most, requiring him to sleep the bright days away, but he did not normally think of it as odd. Mostly because he met very few members of his tribe. Tonight was an exception, plainly. A dark shape in the sky lit by moonlight proved to be a green and blue tribemate. He drifted closer to get a better look at her.

It had been an interesting awakening. Cathasach had found herself somewhere and alone one night. That hadn't bothered her as she immediately began keeping watch around her. The colorful female had simply started traveling. Quickly she'd found out that it was hard to see when the bright ball lit the sky. She learned to find a nice cave or secluded area to sleep or wait.

The moon was out tonight. She was traveling once more. Sometimes she flew, and sometimes she walked and prowled. Tonight it was walking. Something alerted her and she stopped. Her eyes intently scanning around her and her ears swiveled quickly in all directions trying to find the source.

She traveled on the ground, how odd. Had she not yet learned how to fly? Or was she perhaps not interested in flying? He had no intention of asking when he caught up to her. Her decisions were hers to make--it mattered not to him what she chose to do, and besides, he was not himself fond of being questioned by strangers. He doubted very much that she would have any different attitude on the subject. So when he landed in front of the strange Dark Tribe member, he made no mention of her groundly status, but nodded to her and spoke softly. "Good eve, fellow wanderer. Where does the world take you this night?"

His voice had a sort of cadence to it--all the better to learn words by heart. Even casual conversation he related in the strangely-constructed sentences of a storyteller. It was something he never noticed, even in conversation with other B'alam--which, admittedly, had not often taken place.

Sorry for the wait! DX

She had seen his shape flying over head and wondered. Cath kept an eye until the stranger came to land in front of her. He wasn't displaying aggression, so she remained calm. She smiled and nodded her head, "and to you dark stranger."

He had elegant markings and fascinating starred wings. She tilted her head as she considered his question. Traveling through here for the first time she had no idea what was in the area. So she really didn't have a destination. "Seeing what the night will show me. What brings you out?" Curiously she noted the odd way he spoke, but she rather liked it. It was different than her.

No answer given, no answer denied. Tonal could understand that. The stranger's strange dark-gold eyes seemed to notice everything, giving a feeling of keen observation. He could approve of that, as well, and he chose to do so. "I seek whatever audience the night will bring me, to spread my tales and spread my wings." He was a little proud of that answer, even if it had come easily with her reply.

Now that he was closer, Tonalhuiteca could see that she had a brushed, almost feathered look to her fur--it was striped in lighter and darker rings, as though she were covered in feathers. It was a strange look, and combined with her eyes, gave the impression of a brightly colored hawk. The bright colors seemed strange to Tonal--he would have thought that the night would grant him and his kind darker colors, with his own pale patches as mere decoration or embellishment on a shadowed field of colors. But here was evidence against such. He did not smile, but noted the idea with pleasure. There was more yet to learn about this world, and about the other B'alam awoken into darkness.
