Shun furrowed his brow as the voice resounded from the phone. Wait. What? There was one key phrase in there that he picked up on. Unlike Hunters. Wasn't the one they had here a hunter? The threat administered was something to think about as well, but something just wasn't quite adding up. The reaper soon recalled what they had stumbled upon earlier. It seemed like they had killed another Hunter.
Perhaps they had lured the one into an ambush?
Of course, that only led to more questions.
"It seems like the Hunters may have enemies among humans as well.." he quietly mused, staring down at the unconscious form. What was uncertain, however, was were this potential group stood as far as Halloween went. That was what he was interested in. There were a few things for him to consider. They could give in to the caller's demands, or attempt to in any case. Or they could ignore it and kill this guy anyway. Shun had little interest in killing what wasn't an actual threat to his own, but as it was, he didn't know if this mysterious group was a potential problem. If they were, then it would be like killing a hunter. If not, then he'd have just made himself a new enemy when it wasn't necessary. There was also the question of this greater purpose the voice mentioned.
"Hm..."

Gene's face morphed quickly back to her own, jaw slacked and eyes wide with surprise and fear. She'd failed? Dammit! And now this... this was quite the predicament they were all in.
So this person...wasn't a Hunter? What was he then, and why was he killing Hunters? Why was he so necessary to his group that this other group would kill their loved ones for him?
"We can't kill him, it would seem." She enunciated very slowly, still attempting to wrap her head around the situation. "Did you see how mangled that one body was? If they can do that so easily to a Hunter, imagine what their group could to to our friends..." She uttered in a low whisper, shuddering at the thought. Usually the Doppelganger ghoul was quick to defend her loved ones from any threat by threatening back, but the charred Hunter's visage still held fresh real estate in her mind. These creeps were not to be messed with.
"Shun, you've got the most experience with Humans here... what should we do? Interrogate him? Call the number back and ask for directions?" She turned her head to him, the human's head still resting on one of her legs. She turned to Pokerus then, eyes slightly narrowed and the barest hint of a wrinkle on her forehead.
"Or we may have found an ally. Our enemy is obviously their enemy, and as the Humans say, "an enemy of my enemy is my friend." It was something to think about, at the very least.

Alex was in no frame of mind to search. He was barely in a frame of mind to think clearly. It was too much, too soon after what he had already done. He could still feel her blood on his hands, and the give of her flesh beneath nails and teeth. He could still taste it, still smell it, and now this human, this hunter....
Or was it not a hunter? Alex was pacing again, hobbling back and forth across the floor, raking bone fingers through his hair again and again, but occasionally he would pause, and look, and try not to go over and tear out it's throat. The man on the phone had said something important, but Alexander, for the unlife of him, just could not focus.
"Out. Out. Need to get out.." He mumbled to himself, taking in a deep breath that he didn't need, if only to steady his jangled nerves. Focusing on the group at large and not on what lay on the floor, watching as first one then another left, only to come back again.
Gene left too, and the zomboil waited, until a voice carried back to them from out of the darkness.
"Good. Out." He muttered again, casting the others a quick, harried glance before striking out the way Gene had gone, unable or perhaps just completely unwilling to help the human out, leaving that little chore to the others.

Of course there would be a trap at the exit, of course they would be waiting.
But they were not Hunters.
There was something about them, something slightly more human, as if all the aspects of Hunters, the prestige, their weapons, was stripped and focused into nothing until all that remained were them. Soldiers, in grey, not individual, just a multitude of them.
They were too human and it made them just that more unfamiliar. They were too human, and as they worked, none of them, none paid attention to the students. The students might as well have had been invisible.
They worked, they monitored their computers and murmured to each other and passed around glowing red technology, but none of them even acknowledged the students for finishing.
"They should be out by now," this was a voice of one of the humans staring at a glowing monitor, wearing a headset, "any update on their status?"
"Nothing," affirmed another, "interference from the Haunted House entity. We're getting nothing. Should we destroy the prototypes?"
"I'll handle it," the first replied, "see if the results are positive and then we can move to phase two." They stood up, and slowly, calmly, walked towards a tent at the far end.
There were now two options: take the exit out, through the backyard, and escape entirely, or find out what they were doingf.

Hearing Gene call out to them, Poke was amazed they found the exit so quickly. Awesome, time to get the heck out out here. She paused as Alex walked past them, raising a eyebrow at his behavior. He had been acting weird this whole time.
Before she followed the other two, she crouched by the hunter and, as carefully as she could manage, hoisted the hunter onto her back. The extra weight felt like nothing to her, and this way she could keep a eye on it just incase anyone decided to attack it.
Once she followed them through the exit the dragon took a step back in alarm. She thought they were surrounded by hunters, but on second glance these humans appeared...well, human. Clad in grey coats, they possessed none of the attitude and finery of what she considered hunters. In fact, none of them cared they were even here, too absorbed in what was displayed on the computer screens. She wondered if they would even care if she walked out of here.
For now she said nothing, curious as to who these humans were and what they were up to.
