DEUS EX MACHINA PERSONNEL FORM
The Hunter Name: Kirin Thompson Nicknames: Ice Prince, Little s**t, Kiri (if you are not his mother or Baron, you will die for using this) Gender: Male Age: 18
Category: Sun? (maybe Life or Mist?)
The Weapon
Name: Aleksei Celen Nicknames: Sasha Type of Weapon: Two short swords / long knives connected by a chain with a ring in the centre. Can attack by holding a sword/knife in each hand, or by spinning the ring around a finger. Powered Down: A bracelet and ring chain combo set on Kirin's right hand. Former species of weapon: Chuvash (Russian Shapeshifting Dragon) Gender: Male
Personality - Kirin: Kirin has a complex, contradictory personality. Due to his history, he plays the ice prince around strangers, keeping himself in reserve. This cold outlook does NOT extend to fighting monsters - and never to anyone who badmouths his mother or his twin. He can be very logical, but he can also be a snarling hot mess ready to throw the first punch if someone hits his triggers.
Kirin and Baron are super close, firstly because twins. But especially due to losing their parents (father at a younger age, then their mother to supernatural means) and trying to hunt down exactly what happened and take revenge, etc. Sometimes Baron is overbearing or smothering, but Kirin will take that over the alternative - he doesn't know what he'd do without his twin by his side.
+ Focused Kirin is very determined - he's the type to decide on several goals, then won't deviate from them. He's not easily distracted from anything he's focused on. (Though if it doesn't distract or interfere with his goals, he may be more than happy to go along with the plans of others.) Sadly, most of Kirin's goals tend to be short-term rather than long-term. Partly because he gets a bit too bogged down in his more immediate concerns, and partly because his main goal is revenge and that doesn't tend to lead to long-term stability. Even plans for revenge mostly consists of a lot of short-term goals or leads to hunt down. His focus can be cold and logical, or a laser-pointed rage. Cold and logical focus tends to succeed better, at least in the long run.
+ Strategic Kirin has a talent for planning and strategic thinking. It's the most effective way of making sure no one interferes with his goals, by keeping people from realising what those goals are, or how he's working to achieve them. Due to Kirin's distrustful nature (and the distrust towards him in return), it is hard for him to manipulate other people so he prefers not to try. Chess and battle strategy are more his scene - the less human emotions to work with, the better (or if there must be human emotion, the easily predictable kind - provoking people to anger/attack, instilling fear or confusion into enemies). His strategies usually fall to pieces if he himself is provoked into a rage.
+ Hard Working If there's one undisputably good thing about Kirin, it's that he isn't afraid of a little hard work. He's willing to put in hard effort to get results. That used to mean investigating rumours of the supernatural, training to fight, and convincing concerned relatives that he and Baron were well-adjusted and coping with their mothers' death. (It helps when the relatives aren't all that concerned and don't need all that much convincing - just appearances to be kept up.) As a Hunter, he won't have problems training hard with his new weapon and new colleagues, or undertaking missions. Which isn't to say he's always motivated, or that there won't be tasks he doesn't like, but he understands that sometimes you have to work your way through the crap things to get to the good parts.
- Distrusting Kirin has lived his life with the confident expectations that the motives and goals of others are dissimilar, if not harmful, to his own interests. So even though he has worked with people and their goals seemed to be the same for a time, the only person he trusts to be on his side is his twin, Baron. To strangers, forget being sly or secretive, Kirin is openly honest about the lack of trust. As a result, people tend to distrust him in turn. It's going to be hard for Kirin to learn that other Hunters do have similar goals to him and that they might be worthy of some small amount of trust.
- Cold Kirin's a regular Ice Prince. He closed off after his mother died, pushing everyone away - only Baron is an exception. Kirin's convinced he needs no one else but Baron, and vice versa, and isn't in any hurry to change the status quo. Not just unfriendly, Kirin doesn't respond as most would to simple human interaction, even when using it himself. Even if he's saying all the right words (please, thank you), that stony face hasn't changed at all and there's no hint of friendliness involved. Not to be confused with being closed-off or quiet - Kirin can still be quite extroverted, it's just hard to get some warmer emotions out of him. He may be less cold once people are no longer 'strangers', but no one else receives anything close to the warmth Baron does.
- Hair Trigger Not the kind of 'warm' emotion you were looking for, but Kirin's got one hell of a temper for a very few, specific subjects. Hitting them accidentally is enough to send him into a rage, but triggering them repeatedly or on purpose turns him into a snarling ball of rage who'll respond with his fists first. When he's in this mood, he doesn't care if the other person is bigger, stronger, faster, has backup - Kirin in a rage is a Kirin physically attacking (or trying to, Baron does his best to save Kirin from himself), and then nursing a grudge. Current triggers: demons, slurs against his mother, slurs against Baron.
Personality - Aleksei Celen: Sasha is older and kind of gruff. He's not chatty, but he provides needed support and stability to Kirin. He has the relaxed tolerance of someone from an older generation watching kids run around madly, and is a voice of reason when Baron isn't there to talk Kirin down. He often does the mental equivalent of putting a paw/claw on Kirin to hold him down when Kirin gets too overworked.
Very patient, willing to play the long game (and with the life experience to do so). Not sly, but not always forthcoming - he's inclined to keep his own counsel and there are things he'll keep from Kirin because the human is just a 'baby' compared to him. Hard to anger, but if you manage it... Think mountain: almost impossible to move, but when you do, crushed by the avalanche.
Quite fond of humans, even before he was weaponised.
Why did your human character choose to become a Hunter? Kirin grew up with his parents and his twin brother Baron. Their father died at a young age, and their mother a few years later from supernatural causes. The twins are out for explanations (and REVENGE) AND THERE WILL BE MORE STUFF HERE LATER.
Weapon Ability Like a Chuvash in flight, Sasha trails fire behind him for a very short period of time, dealing a second attack with the flames. [Either The Charge or Double Take - will investigate further.]
