Apparently when Tavi bit the creature in the ear, it had really set the thing off. She'd flown in closer, trying to take another strike at it. When the kitsune had moved in, she'd swooped closer to the ground, circling. Looking for a good point to strike, see if any of their attacks had left a weak spot. Certainly could see the damage being done to the creature... but her eyes had wandered. Snarling, she'd seen how Tavi was thrown aside.

She'd let herself get distracted. Her reward was getting backhanded by the brute, a blow that knocked her from the air with a yelp and without breath when she landed on the ground. She was getting sick of getting hit by the thing.

While she was down, the creature managed to get another hit in, landing a good kick to her side and sending Agsil back even further. Her wings were protesting the hit and drag. Tail slashing through the air, the dragon got back to her feat--shakily. But she got up. Tavi was clearly fairing better than she. It was time to stop watching the kit and focus on the creature.

Hissing that she should shove that weird torch in its nose up another hole, she managed to get herself back into air. Circling upward, she dove down, landing a rather solid kick and follow through punch to the creature's head and shoulder. A smug smile flew to her lips as she brought herself back up into the air.

The heat of the cave and exertion of battler were wearing on him. Stumbling a bit before getting his footing Tavi growled, teeth bared to the staggering beast. They had done well in getting it wore down, it literally looked like they could topple it in just a few more hits. When Agsil missed with her first attack he clutched his fist taking a moment in letting her go back angrier before going in himself on the opposite side. Launching a fury of kicks at the beast before skittering back to and grinning as it fell to one knee. "Finish it!" He yelled half out of breath to Agsil.

Finish it, he'd cried.

Agsil hoovered in the air above the nearly fallen beast. Her fangs bared, she didn't waste breath answering with words. She just dive bombed the thing. Pulled her wings to her body, and dropped. Straight down, till at the last moment, she swiped with claws and fangs and pulled herself back out with her wings. Not before the creature had tried to give a last half-hearted attempt at life. It'd knocked her good with its massive hands, but having something come at your neck doesn't let you last long if you're not quick about it.

No blood stained her as she landed back on the ground, huffing as she watched the body dissipated. All traces of the creature were gone from her, save the bruises and cuts from getting kicked along the stone floor. Blood-ink was already welling here and there. Something she tried to ignore as she looked towards Tavi. He looked worn and torn here and there... but alive.

Agsil was pretty sure she was a worse sight than he was. She smiled, though was unsure if he could see. "You did extremely well. You should be proud of yourself." Pausing before going over to the boil, she knelt down, reaching for the scepter that remained. She lifted it with as few fingers required to touch it as possible, making a face at how it was a bit wet. If that was from the creature's nose.... ewwwww....

"What is this? A tool? A wand?" She was almost tempted to flick it around like she'd seen some of the reapers use their weapons.

With its host defeated, the scepter had nothing to keep it lit. Its glow soon sputtered and died, but their maps were more than happy to make up the difference in illumination. They flared again, displaying five proud words before going dark for good.

There was another stretch of silence.

And then... they were home.

Agsilved and Tavadia reappeared back at school, majorly dazed and minorly injured, the pumpkin sun only slightly farther along in the sky than it had been when they'd left. A middle aged werehyena sat at their feet, his eyes widening a fraction as he looked up at them.

"s**t."

He lowered the sandwich that was poised in front of his face, eyes darting from Tavi and Agsil to the scepter. "Guess you're both Knobs now. Better spelunkers than I thought you'd be too." After one more covert look between them, Kenner dropped his food in the grass and plucked their prize from Agsil's fingers with a sharp laugh. He fumbled at the front pocket of his shirt for a moment. "You were kind of supposed to end up in Cricket's off—"

With a faint zap and the fainter scent of ozone, their instructor disappeared.

Beyond a couple of sparkling stones and a pair of blank former maps, there was no real proof of what they had done, but several hours later they were officially registered as second year students with the administration.

Kenner has fled with their scepter, but the blank maps and all of the things they picked up in the maze are still on them, though they'll never work again. There's also that sandwich...

If either character wants closure or anything, they can write Kenner an angry letter or wait until he holds a class and confront him, but for now they are freeeeeeee! He also currently lacks a pin, but if he ever gets one, a copy will be delivered to each of you. XD
