Users on this site must follow ToS, not just the list of prohibited conduct, but did you know we also must follow Rules & Guidelines? Not everyone knows that. I agreed with Xiva to review guild rules and ToS (overdue to review ToS, it's really, really long). I came across something I would like to share. Rules & Guidelines - see Repercussions halfway down the page and go halfway down that list to this: "Gold Buying/Selling. Buying or selling Gaia gold for real-life cash, whether on Gaia Online or on other sites, is strictly prohibited. Attempts to buy or sell Gaia Gold may also lead to your account being banned" Of course, Flynn is a bit of a pirate, and GC isn't mentioned in the rule, but....still..

Interesting tidbits from ToS -
The very first item under ToS prohibits sharing personal information. Dang. I'd certainly forgotten that was part of ToS, not just good common sense.
Item 2 incorporates Rules & Guidelines plus Announcements & stickies in ToS. I'd certainly forgotten that.
Item 3 - Gaia can make changes at any time and continuing to use Gaia means you accept the changes.
Item 4 - Prohibited conduct, 17 items. This is what most people think of as ToS. (Item 17 again makes Rules & Guidelines part of ToS.)
Items 5 thru 19 The rest of it all. ToS is long. *Lies on back and gasps for air*
sweatdrop
I'll come back to reading the prohibited conduct list again later, the whole ToS list is kind of overwhelming
One thing I really have to watch - not quoting a ToS violation, as that is a violation by itself. But most of it comes back to respect, which is the centerpiece of gulld rules. Whew!
Somehow, I get the feeling Flynn isn't too concerned. She is, after all, a pirate.

I totally get not quoting a ToS violation. The original post can be modified but if one person quotes it and a mod does not catch it, it can spread like a wild fire gonk Also, it would be enforcing good behavior by seeing something bad, just ignore it. I dislike the wording on some of the ToS, have to reread a few times, slow. ly, to make sure I get it or am not misinterpreting something

I was posting quite a bit in the In the News forum this year, and discussions sometimes get heated. I usually do avoid such, but ran into more this year than before. It was why I knew I needed to review ToS. I picked up copying someone else's post this year, and that's considered spam, so I needed to break that bad habit.

I see where it would be easy to find ToS violations in there. I avoid fights at all costs. Now a decent debate is fine, but through typing it is hard to convey tone. I use emotes a lot to generate differences in my tone. I'd hate for someone to misinterpret what I have said and start a fight sweatdrop

I'd hate for someone to misinterpret what I have said and start a fight sweatdrop I've started using emotes, and also started using chatspeak last year, though I try to minimize chatspeak. Previously avoided both. Lately have shifted to the edge on occasion, but typically, I've avoided any possible ToS violation. The shift happened when I was unhappy with Gaia, but I've never wanted to be anything except respectful, since originally understanding why it's mods who handle violations. We all change, sometimes for the better. I read a journal entry earlier, linked from the guild, and it was a most thoughtful analysis of change.
