Forming a fanon Space Marine legion...

Is there any advice I can get from experienced Warhammer players?
I've been reading the fluff for about 6 months now, but these are my first actual models.
I've read the entire Space Marine Legion canon legion list to make sure there are no naming conflicts with my various naming ideas, and will do the same with the fan wiki's fanon list.

I'm also brainstorming a name if anyone wants to help with that. Ceramite Legionnaires has been a recurring name for me.

The name sounds pretty nice, maybe a red and gold Roman-esque theme for the paint?
