Not such a 'Merry Christmas'

This is by far the worst Christmas season I've had.
Sure, its a time for family but my family is kind of separated.
My mom died last month after being in the hospital in a vegetable state for like half a year. I wasn't close to her but hey, she's my mom.
My friends are all in a different country. I recently had to move.

When I get to go online on Gaia, its a little happier.
The stuff around the guild helps me forget all the bad stuff.
What I'm asking for is some help.
Maybe ways to cheer up? Things I should do?

Sorry for your loss, you still have all you friends on gaia smile heart , just think of it this way, it could be worse, like the families of the victims of the Connecticut shooting have to celebrate Christmas without their kids emotion_8c

Sorry to hear that you have been through a whole lot this year. It's never fun to have tragic events happen on the holidays.

I remember when my grandma was dying around the holidays and she was on life support. She was in a vegetative state so we could just be there for her. It wasn't the most joyful holidays. I remember since I was a kid as well as my siblings, a lot of relatives got together and brought Christmas presents early in the morning for us before we woke up. Even though grandma was dying, it brought some temporary happiness to distract myself.

Usually in times of that - I try to distract myself as much as possible by being busy doing other things. Sometimes it's work around the house, being around friends, etc. Grief is very important, too, and that must also take it's course.

I hope things get better and heal with time as time tends to do. I am once again so sorry for your loss sad

When I want to get my mind off things, I like to listen to music and draw. I find art to be a wonderful distraction- but maybe that's just me. I would try to focus on the positives, though- optimism does wonders if you try hard enough.
