Mot wandered the hallways, in one of those moods where he didn't quite feel like himself. As such, he avoided social interacting and went out of his way to find a quiet place to ponder. In order to quell his downtrodden thought process, he instead pondered how to better his abilities. He'd noticed as he grew as a student, that his weapon is what usually changed when he wanted change. His time as a Hob had split his single pistol into two, giving him a varied range of attacking. However, he wanted more precision in his attacks. More power. As a gunsmith reaper, he knew one way to do this. It would simply take practice.
His daydreaming, however meaningful, eventually landed him somewhere he did not mean to be. A Haunted House. The Haunted House.
The room was rather empty, with tall stacks of wooden crates being the only means of cover.

Back in the Haunted House, Gale made his way down one of the dark, shadow-filled halls, the rifle in his hands held low and at the ready in case he needed to use it. Being promoted did not mean, of course, that he was relieved of the duties he'd held as a trainee - which meant that when he'd seen his name on the roster for Haunted House patrol, he'd had no choice but to come, despite his aversion to the place.
Brushing a few strands of his hair away from his face, Gale slipped into one room first - a room with dark wood paneling and thick, cushy armchairs that were covered in layers of dust and grime - and then another room, this one with neon colored furniture and bright orange curtains.
Now he made his way silently down another hall, his booted feet making soft thumping noises as he walked. Jinhai was making small talk every once in a while, quiet words of encouragement, or miscellaneous facts about things he could manage to remember.
Gale pushed his way into the next room, quietly, cautiously.
<< Gale. >> said Jinhai abruptly, ending his speech about keeping one's room clean.
Yeah, I know.
Slowly the door shut, Gale leaning back against it.
"...good afternoon, Halloween."

The Halloween creature looked...normal, almost. He could have passed for a human if he were careful, Gale thought, as he scrutinized the person in front of him. Tall and lanky, with dark hair pulled into a braid that fell down his back and a brown cowboy hat perched on his head, he could have stepped right out of one of those Western movies that his uncle had liked to watch.
Even the rifle that appeared in his hands, twisted from what looked like smoke, fit neatly into that possible scenario - minus the smoke part. Gale darted the side, the bullet skimming his waist as he moved, and he lifted his own rifle, crouching in position on the opposite side of the room.
"How rude," said Gale, peering through the telescopic lens. The barrel of the gun was resting on the top of one of the crates he was kneeling behind, and he could pinpoint the Halloween creature - reaper, as Jinhai reminded him - several yards away. "Firing on a stranger like that out of the blue."
But he had not fought anyone who had actually had a gun like his before. Most of the Halloween creatures he had seen fought with blades, or staffs, knives or bows - never guns.
Interesting, Gale thought to himself, as he fired off a shot, and then another, then another. Very interesting.

Mot, thought Gale, as he shifted positions, relieving the pressure on one foot in favor of the other. Interesting name. Unusual - but then again, everything involving Halloween is.
He moved stealthily along behind the crates, staggering a little as one of them fell again, landing against his already injured shoulder, followed by one of Mot's bullets. Irritated, he pushed aside a crate and lifted the rifle, leveling it into position.
"A pleasure, Mot," said Gale in response, and fired off another shot, followed by several more in succession.
"My name is Gale Gentry."

Pleasure? If there was any pleasure it was purely one sided. Mot found no pleasure in this at all. Formalities, yet again. It all came down to formalities.
The reaper inhaled sharply as crates came tumbling, followed by gunfire. He ran from the volley of bullet, getting hit every which way before hiding again. Gale Gentry? Mot filed the name for later. Who knew when knowing these things would be handy. He'd have to report it to Seeds perhaps.
Well, this Gale was strong, and Mot felt he had no choice but to use his Ace in the Hole.
The reaper came out of the woodwork, walking tall, and proudly into the open. "Adios, Gale." Mot called grimly, turning up the barrel of his weapon as it glowed red with Fear. He fired a large, powerful shot at the ceiling, letting it cave in on both of them.
Mot dissipated upon being buried.

It may have been stupid, giving his real name so freely, but it was not as if Gale had anything to hide. What was done was done, and there were already others who knew his name; it would be foolish to think that it would stay hidden, anyway.
"Adios, Gale."
That was ominous. Gale's brows drew together, and he crouched low behind the crates, lifting his gaze to see the reaper holding his rifle towards the ceiling.
"No!" shouted Gale, leaping out. "No, stop, wait - !"
But it was too late. With a tremendous crash the bullets hit the ceiling, and there was an explosion of cement, wood, and plaster. Gale threw himself backwards, towards the wall, towards anything to shelter himself, but there was nothing.
<< Cover your head! >> came the yell from Jinhai, and Gale instinctively threw his hands up, over his head. It didn't do much - he could still feel the rubble cascading down onto him, and Gale let out a sharp hiss of pain every so often, crouched low in a corner.
And then it was done. A heavy silence filled the room, and Gale slowly moved his hands away, peering through the thick haze of smoke and dust. Coughing, he dragged himself to his feet, wincing at the stiffness of his joints, the pain of the rubble and the gunshots sinking into his veins.
The reaper was gone. Gale pressed his lips together angrily.
That b*****d.
