The first boy I ever
fell in love with wore
his brown hair short and
smiled with his eyes and
lived on an island where he
fought pirates and didn’t
know what a kiss was
exactly.

The first place I ever
fell in love with has
more back roads than
main ones and
fields filled with
ghosts and bugs and
dead end roads that
were not completely
dead
exactly.

I am still trying
to hold that
boy’s hand and
trying to hold
onto my summer
callouses that still
contain the dirt and
smoke so I can be
buried with it all
even though I’m not
sure when that time
will be
exactly.

Hazy Mornings

That's a wonderfully, well-executed form of free-verse. It reminded me of this short-story by Neil Gaiman, as a tribute to Michael Moorcock.

And I love your username. Same hint of old nostalgia.

I love Neil Gaiman! I'm about halfway/three quarters through Good Omens, and it's fab. It's my brother's copy.

My username is actually based on my Tumblr name, which is Hazy Sunday Mornings. It used to be Ghosts in June, but I switched it. c: It's a reference to a lot of things.

Thanks for the feedback!

If you loved Good Omens, you'd love 'Smoke and Mirrors'. It's a collection ofa few brilliant short-stories. One of the famous movie-version of his work, 'Coraline', was initially adapted from a short story called 'The Price' from 'Smoke and Mirrors'
