The second round was almost complete when he faltered over a stray root and was struck. Thankfully the blow was a glancing one and merely shaved a portion of his FEAR.

Petro worried that the previous strike would slow him down but he pushed through the pain and ignored the scream of his muscles with each step he took. He managed to reach the end and back in spite of his leg.

Petro was so close, he knew it but at the same time, it meant nothing unless he completed this. He felt the sudden spike of temperature behind him just as he reached the starting point on his fourth leg of the course.

On his last round, the lightning gave him a parting gift of striking his other leg. The tikbalang didn't begrudge the lightning its damaging properties. It's what it does, he can't blame it for being capable of hurting him the way he couldn't blame water for being capable of drowning him. He is, however, more than capable of blaming Hunters.
