LOST CLAN CREATION FORM The Horseman Name: Salbei
Nicknames: Sal
Gender: Male
Age: -- N/A
Height: 6'5"
Original Clan: Famine
Job Role: Sage
Personality: You're adorable I love you so much darling: - Nearly everyone he interacts with gets the same treatment from him; he's friendly, personable, always smiling...but in more of a Parent humoring or tolerating a Child who has a constant need for affirmation. He doesn't mean to be cruel about it and he certainly doesn't intend to come off as patronizing, but sometimes it just can't be helped. Conversations with Sal tend to involve the use of pet names and physical touches to portray closeness.
He does this to not burn bridges; he learned early on that you get more flies with honey and that being mean to someone (unless they completely deserved it) was the quickest way to lose a potentially valuable resource. Ever one to hate wasting things, Sal goes out of his way to keep as many connections as open and on good terms as possible; if you need something? He'll find someone to help you with it if he can't do it himself. Granted, with the Isles gone he's lost a lot of his contacts, and will have to work hard to build new ones.
Curiousity maimed the Pony: - In his youth he was an Alchemist. He had no particular field of study and nothing he concentrated solely on; whatever seemed important at the time was what he worked on, and he loved every moment of it. One day a plague project backfired, leaving him with a condition that has him coughing up blood; since then, when he can he has been working to try and rid himself of his ailment, but it has become more of a backburner item than a point of focus now. He's used to coughing up blood, but he's certainly not used to having to rebuild his home on a santuary in Halloween. He has his priorities, okay?
He is still a very curious Horseman. He wants to know who you are, what you're doing, how you're doing it, and why you'd even want to do such a thing. Unlike his Sagely counterpart he isn't in-your-face about it and prefers to give distance while he makes his inquiries.
Everything is flawed: - Nothing - and nobody - is perfect. Especially himself. He understands this, but also believes that you can overcome flaws if you know they exist. Therefore, despite his cheery, friendly behaviour...he's going to try and find your flaws. He'll ask questions, he'll make inquiries and eventually, once he feels he has enough data, he'll come to his own conclusions. Then he just needs to decide if it's worth bringing to light or not...but that entirely depends on how right he feels his conclusions are, since they're merely based on observation, not science. If he does decide to bring them into the light, he'll always have helpful suggestions to overcome them or make them better.
This also extends to projects, and not just people; have you considered using
spearmint instead of mint? It might just add that kick you've been looking for!
He believes his own biggest flaw is that deep down, he really doesn't care about anything. He has passions in life and things that anger him, but sometimes these feel more like things he
should feel and does, not something he
actually feels and does.
Obsessive note-taking: - Likely a leftover from his days as an Alchemist, but Sal is meticulous about keeping what he knows in a place he can always find it. After all, you need to know the details before you can plan a project around it! What good is a plague if it doesn't focus on key weak spots in the system? In the days before the forced relocation, he had shelves upon shelves of thick journals, each entry as detailed as he could recall it and written in tiny scrawl to make sure he had enough room to make the books count; some pages even had detailed drawings and diagrams, mini sketches if he couldn't get his point across in words. Now that they're gone he'll have to start over; but at least he's got new material to study! He keeps a small notebook and pen in his robes for emergencies.
Anyone is free to read what he has written; he doesn't keep it a hidden unless the contents are part of a secret project. However, as a lot of the note's contents are his thoughts, perhaps you might
not want to read it, as it might pertain to you. So far, it hasn't gotten him in trouble or clashed with his friendly demeanour. Even in writing he isn't outright mean, but his observations may be a little more blunt and technical on paper than in words.
On the plus side, he'll never forget your name or pretty much anything you ever said to him if he was conscious and listening to you.
TL;DR- Sal will treat you like an amused parent humoring a child, however he'll do it with a
friendly smile.
- He's curious, but prefers to observe than to get in your face about it.
- Coughs up blood because a plague project backfired in his youth.
- He likes looking for flaws, especially in others. And then he'll probably suggest how to fix it.
-> He believes one of his own flaws is that he has no ********, but can't tell because he has no point of comparison.
- Writes
everything down, if he can remember it. Anyone can read them, unless it's for a secret project.
Mount Form: A sickly grey, thoroughly emaciated Arabian horse whose hooves are pure bone. Sal has been known to sigh wistfully and say that he wished he could have an Ostrich or Secretarybird Mount, though.
Weapon Form: Bolas
FEAR ATTACK: The Chill - Healing spit?! Another backfired attempt to heal his bloody cough actually gave the blood he coughs up minor healing properties when there's a rush of FEAR in the area. Directions: Rub near afflicted area, see results (usually) immediately! Kind of like Nel, only less vomit and more blood smears.
