Take things slow with him, especially if hes still heartbroken. Make sure he knows that youre always there for him and like you always have been, it doesnt sound like youll be leaving his side anytime soon. I would talk to him about the possibility of dating before talking about it to your friends, and if it turns out to be a let down, just ask him not to mention it to the others. Then its less of a deal, and things wont be nearly as awkward if not one else knows. You both trust each other, so it shouldnt be that big of a deal. Just remember to go it slow.
