Roll 1 - Earth - Pinch of Dried Spice (-3) = Fail
White ears perked when the professor called for the end of their drawing period. Now they were to-... try and summon a basic element using what they made. For starters, Levi had catered her circle to poison. Resting her head in her palm now, she sighed at having slipped up this early in the class assignment. Furthermore, Professor Proudfoot indicated that she and Bul would be less likely to be able to summon anything at all.
That advanced pride was now mashed like a candy corn kernel ground in a mortar and pestle. This loss, however, would not stop her from trying to prove these facts wrong. It's'on, Bul. Just yew n' me. 'Gainst tha odds. Standing tall the tatzel shot a reassuring look to the half beast. It would be up to them to represent monster magic.
Looking through the box, Levi decided on something that might associate with earth. She liked earth; it gave her kin candy corn. What would please the ground more than to replenish it with a return of that which it produced? Levi was going with the dried spices; just a pinch is what she took.
Back at her summoning circle, she watched to see what her fellow classmates did. Okay- spices in the center and focus FEAR on the center. Okay. One deep breath later, Levi stared down at the spices. She stared... and stared some more. Her hands clenched into fists on the desk, knuckles turning white as she tried to force her FEAR ion the circle center.
Nothing.
Thinking back to times when she'd brought out her FEAR for battles, she tried to replicate that amount of concentration as if the spices were her opponent.
Nope. Nada.

Roll 2 - Earth - Pinch of Dried Spice (-3) = 6, Success ((She dedicates this -somehow- magical feat to all her monster kin. Word.))
...nothin' either? His sponge didn't seem to do anything either. Er- yea I'll give it'a 'nother go then. Umm... He said he'd felt something but, the tatzel really didn't get that same vibe as when she'd used her FEAR in battles. Shaking off the negativity from past failures on her part as well as the half beast's, Levi took another deep breath. This time, she thought of one battle in particular and how she'd called up her FEAR through her claws while in her normal monster form. It seemed easier then; perhaps being in true form had something to do with it? Well, she certainly couldn't remove her pin in class; that much she knew. What Levi did do was initially close her eyes and invasion herself in her usual form. Her tail dropped to the floor and slithered, her ears stood straight up in attention and Levi gritted her teeth with a light hiss venting from between her fangs.
Clawed fingers stretched out over the wood of her desk and when Levi's eyes opened she felt the grains of the wood collect underneath her fingernails. It was like a jolt of energy shot through her and directed at the desk. It creaked, but the desk remained stable as the most profound thing happened.
The spices moved.
No, it wasn't a shift in the ground. The swirling of the tiny seeds in a spiral that came just an inch off the desk and then reverted back was proof enough for the ghoul that it had worked this time. Removing her fingers from the now scarred desk, Levi's eyes widened and her head slowly turned to Bul.
Jack, Sally n' Zero... did... did'ja see that?! It was more of a confirmation that she hadn't just imagined what happened rather than a gloat. Levi really needed to know that she hadn't begun seeing things from concentrating too hard. I think- it worked! C'mon, Bul! try 'gain! Abandoning her own desk momentarily, the tatzel bounded to the front of Bul's desk, determined to see if he too could make something out of the sponge. She felt more confident about their success now; monsters: they sure could summon.

The cowboy roach, still struggling in Bul's grip, was facing it's life flashing before its eyes. Ah, innocent larva stage, where in he had played so care free with the other roaches, and its birthday just a few days later where they found that discarded pizza box all the way up to the present, following blindly with the rest of the swarm... but now it was going to be eaten.
All seemed lost, save for the massive reptilian boil's distraction, as it finally gave up its struggling to hang from it's entrapped claws.
But there was still hope, as a tiny voice cried out, 'UNHAND MY HOME-ROACH YOU OVERGROWN LIZARD!' although it was in roach and no one in their right mind could speak it, let alone hear the subtle tiny hissing and whistles.
All the same, the cowboy cockroach lifted its head, peering out numbly from under its hat as his friend scuttled forth to save him...

Thankfully, Thanatos' ego was actually strong enough to not feel beaten by the failure. In fact, he was actually feeling pretty neutral about the whole thing. Chuckling softly when he felt a hand on his shoulder, he grinned, "Well, how could I fail a second time, with such a pretty personal fearleader cheering me on?"
Biskoto would have rolled her eyes at her reaper if she could, but even magical snakes lack the ability to eye roll.
"Pleassssure to meet you, Gene," A brief pause at the floating hand, "Doessss that happen regularly?" And should she be concerned?

Roll 1 - Phoenix Feather/Fire - Success
They were going to summon something? This sounded intense! The professor instructed them to consider attempting something other than an element that they'd already mastered...but Thackery plucked up the phoenix feather anyway. He could summon fiery puppies, but as far as being a master of flames...ha, that was a stretch.
As if he were handling the most fragile of tiny minipets, he placed the feather right where the two chalky kitsune tails met, giving it a gently pat to make sure it stayed in place. The ink that it stuck to probably didn't hurt, either.
He put on his most serious of faces, closed his eyes, and focused his FEAR as hard as he could.
Maybe it was the recent progression to knob, or maybe his affinity towards fire was a little better than he thought it was. But there soon came the telltale whoosh of the feather catching fire.
"Ah! It happened!" he cried excitedly, waving his hands about, beaming at the strong flame.
He almost reached out to give it another pat, but decided against it at the last minute. He remembered what singed fur smelled like. Yuck.
