I finally transferred to HSU and am making use the gym and track!

[Name] Sarah

[Age] 23

[Height] 5' 5.5"

[Highest weight ever] 197 pounds

[Starting weight] 182 pounds

[Starting BMI] 29.8 (over weight)

[Ultimate Goal] 120 pounds

[ My current living situation is a little tricky since I live on campus. I don't have a car which means I walk everywhere and rely on buses. I don't have a job so I don't eat out, instead I have a meal plan so I'm limited to eating at the J (our cafeteria). Sometimes, the food is awesome, and other times, not so much. I'm so happy to be here, I love it!]

[Rules]
•no sugary or carbonated drinks
•Small portions!
•exercise at least 3 times a week.
•get at least 2.5 L of water a day (5 16.9 fl oz water bottles).
•try and eat no later than 7pm (or nothing 3 hours before bedtime).
•no eating out unless if it's an emergency or I have absolutely no choice!
•get as many fruits into my diet as possible.
•try not to over eat, eat slow and then wait 15 mins to see if I'm still hungry, if so then eat a little more.

[About Me]


I attend Humboldt State University as a full time student. I'm majoring in Environmental Science - Ecological Restoration. I moved 11 hours away from home to attend this school because it has a very strong wildlife, environment, forestry, and biology department. I love it here, the town is small and everyone is super friendly. I live on campus and have 3 very awesome roommates, 1 of which I share a room with.

Finally being able to move out was a great idea and an awesome opportunity. I now have so much freedom and I love going to school. I admit, the classes are tough (especially biostatistics) and I'm trying to do my best but I feel like I could be doing so much better. I still have 10 more weeks until the semester is over so I can still bring my grades up.

I haven't really been homesick since I've been here because I've been too busy to worry about it. I really only miss my brother and my dog. However, I can't wait to go home for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

In terms of weight loss, the Weight Watchers diet has always worked for me. I'm unable to do that diet though because I'm limited to cafeteria food because I'm paying for a meal plan so I might as well use it. In the past, I lost 23 pounds from running and doing weight watchers. Now that I'm here, I'm pretty sure I've gained weight so I'm on this journey to get back into shape! I'll need all the support I can get.

[My Weight Loss Goals]


My goals are to get into shape. I want to drop at least 60 pounds, then tone my body by weight lifting. I also want to build my stamina and lung capacity because seriously, this school is nothing but hills and stairs, and it's not cool being out of breath when ever I go to class.

But first, before doing anything, I want to lose the weight. I also want to establish healthier eating habits. I'm trying to get more fruits and veggies in my diet as well as exercising.

Currently, I'm in a weight loss competition with my best friend. It sorta a bet to see if we can lose weight and keep it off until the official weigh in day.

[What Inspires Me]


In terms of academics, nothing in particular inspires me. I just want to build a stable future for myself. It helps I have a strong interest in the major I'm doing.

In terms of weight loss, many things inspire me like informational documentaries about health and nutrition, success stories, before and after pics, and other people's motivation. The people I care for inspire me as well because I want to be able to live long and happy with them and being healthy will ensure that.

Also, if I win, the loser has to buy me an HDTV with a blu ray player and that's pretty motivating. xd

This is me at 175. That's the lowest I got. This pic was taken about a year ago.

This is me currently. I took this pic a few nights ago. It's hard to tell if I gained weight or not, I don't have a scale to check.

Oct. 2, 2011. Sunday: Jogged 8 laps around the track.

I was in a pretty grumpy mood today because Wednesdays are my longest days in terms of classes and it didn't help I started my cycle. I feel like I pigged out at dinner and I should have only eaten one cake ball, not 3. At least tomorrow, I'll get to go to the gym again and and I'll only have one class so I'll have lots of time to study and finish my homework. I really need to change my eating habits!

Finally weighed myself. I've gained 7 pounds since moving here about 8 weeks ago. My goal for now is to get down to 160 pounds by Christmas.

Wednesdays are the bane of my week. All my classes are pretty much back to back from from 11a.m to 8:50p.m. However, I was done by 7 because we had a midterm which I'm pretty sure I passed. It was super easy compared to my other ones. Working out tomorrow definitely. Tomorrow is my chill day and today was my HELL day. Thank god it's over.
