Wow, never seen shading like that, but I actually like it. XD

It looks almost cleaner than the way I do it.

In my opinion, the colouring was done pretty well smile but if you used a darker shade of colour rather than black for the shadows, the picture would appear more colourful overall. I learnt a trick on deviantART about selecting darker colours for shadows, which was to select it like this:

User Image

I guess there isn't a 'correct' way to colour in terms of technique but I suppose there are efficient ways.

What are your steps when you colour your drawings?

Well I first add the base colors of the skin, clothes, eyes, etc. Then I put in the highlights(well you can't really see it in the picture) and then I add the shades surprised

Do you use separate layers for each part of the picture (skin, clothes, hair, etc.)? When you use separate layers you can use the clipping group or preserve opacity options. These options allow you to colour on top of the layer without going outside of the area you want coloured - saving lots of time on erasing smile

A while ago I found myself learning techniques by watching other people use the program on youtube or on a live stream channel.

I like how you color ouo

I agree with Philip, just go onto youtube and look for tutorials for sai. I always watch those speed paint drawings for sai. They can give you a lot of ideas c:
