I heard that America is making a verson of it and casting Zack Efron as Light! this can't be true can it?

I think there was a thread somewhere around hear that addressed this xd But yes, it's true that id America made a live Death Note movie Zac Efron would most likely be a candidate for Light. Nothing is official yet, though.

I hope he pronounces the japanese names right...

Americans need to stay away from Death Note. 4Kids TV already did that and they need to stop it immediately.

4Kids didn't do anything with Death Note, and the Viz Media stuff that Americans did do isn't bad at all. (The voice actors for Rem and Mikami pummel the Japanese ones, IMO.) That said, the first leaked draft of the American movie was... inauspicious, and nothing definite has been heard since.
