Hm, I like it. Just keep on using references and stuff. If you are practicing doing portraits, you could always draw a picture of your friends and stuff (using picture will help improve your skill). Using a photo of yourself, family and friends are fine (as long as you took the picture yourself, or your family/friends gave you permission. Using pictures online isn't such a great idea. But I guess everything starts out from copying.

Lovely! Really is, but for your portraits a good way to go about it is to not outline things, you should use varying tones, paying attention to how the light is reflecting on skin. Like for the portrait of yourself. You should frame the face by using the dark darks in your hair. Always start with the darkest shades, then pull out the lightest parts, then push the various changes in shade.

Hope this isn't confusing or weird or wrong! Hehe
