Another hit, another tear
Another night stricken into fear
You pray to God to make him stop
You pray for someone to call the cops
You want to get away
But all you can do is pray
He’ll overpower you and make you stay
He’ll sleep by the door so there’s no escape
No sneaking out into the cold dark night
He wants you to stay in a traumatic state of fright
You think how could this happen to me?
How did this come to be?
Your family thinks they know but they don’t
They can try to help but they won’t
They make matters worse
They think it’s just physical hurt
It’s nothing they could ever know
So you wait in fear for him to show
To take you back to that abusive place
There’s no escaping from that man’s hate
And fear and jealousy and controlling ways
If he comes back and makes you stay
That could be the end of your life that day.

Oh, wow eek ! This is very dark. I likey. I just don't understand though. I thought the guy was with her, at his/her house. But at the end she seems to be waiting for him to return?

no. they lived together and he hit her so she had to sneak out i the middle of the night, then when she found someplace to stay she was scared he'd find her and bring her back to their house so he could abuse her more. its actually about my sister and her husband...

Oh, I'm sorry to hear that--about your sister. It's strange, but the poem reminded me of my sister and her ex-husband. We had been on vacation to Disney World once, but we had to leave a few days early because they had gotten into a fight and police had been called. We had been getting ready to go and ride some more rides when we were alerted to the incident and I had been afraid for her because none of us had even known that s**t was going on in the first place. After she left him, he had stalked her for awhile. They had gotten into another fight though, and she punched him upside his head and he hasn't been back since. She said his skull sounded exactly as they do on TV when she hit him.

I liked your poem for another reason though. But I won't explain why.
