Actually, I've been mulling this over and I think it's definitely weird and sort of intrusive. Like the gossip columns obsessing over celebrity love lives. They may be actors and public faces, but they're still real people, so I find it somewhat disrespectful. I dislike gossiping over people's lives in general - not just celebrities - so that's part of it.
On another level, I think it's creepy to objectify people's interpersonal relationships. Sure, you have to wonder a little bit sometimes, but if you're turning it into your own personal show in your mind... No, just no. It's about respect and keeping it all in perspective. You can do what you want with two fictional characters in your mind, make up scenarios, write them out and do fanart, engage in the fandom, and that's fine. But in terms of real life? Real human beings? People ain't our toys, plain and simple.
