I made this thread for both the benefit of myself and others. Even as I cut back on the obviously less nutritional food, I find myself getting caught up in the more complex things. Should I put ketchup or mustard on this burger/sandwich? Chicken or turkey? Can I switch an ingredient in the recipe to take away some of the fat of this cookie without losing the great taste? This is not necessarily for counting calories, but also the basic nutritional value like fiber, carbs, protein, sugar, etc.
This thread is for people who want to make small switches to make big impacts in their eating habits.
My own personal question: Is there something like mayo that packs that wonderful flavor without all the calories?

There is a light mayo available, that's half of the oil used. I'm not sure of anything else except maybe a caesar salad dressing? As for Ketchup, i wouldn't think it'd make a huge impact, but I always use a salt reduced one, to lower cholesterol.

A really good mustard is ten times better, but you have to a) like mustard, and b) find the right one.

Seraphsody A really good mustard is ten times better, but you have to a) like mustard, and b) find the right one. So true! We had this one kind way back when and I can't, for the life of me, figure out what it was! D: *will switch to regular yellow mustard from now on and see how I like it* >.> I like this thread.

LOL: I was actually surprised as to how much sugar was in the ketchup I was eating. I dont know why it has the amount it does (6g for the Heinz brand.) I find it interesting because sometimes I can eat ketchup straight out of the packets, as gross as that sounds. XD It's also my favorite condiment. But thanks for the mayo tip! I guess I'll be on the search for a good, low-fat mayo.
Seraphsady and mqstalker: Mm, mustard. I do like mustard. Maybe I can use mustard to give my sandwiches flavor instead of mayo.

Air popped popcorn is awesome instead of chips or microwave. You can season it lightly with salt, pepper, a little butter, or various other seasonings like chili powder, garlic and Italian seasoning, etc.
