 Can we respect other people's opinions, please? You don't like Hawthorne Heights. I don't like Hawthorne Heights. But that doesn't mean no one else has the right to like it, or that it automatically sucks because it doesn't appeal to us personally. And 'correcting' someone else's opinion is pretty damn patronising.

Rellik San I hate emo's, I've met plenty of emo kids. Hell I borderline own the freakin' emo guild. *head butts desk* Its a long story. The fact is, most emo kids are arrogant, egotistical, self serving and self hating. Whats not to hate, but they are here to stay, and most people will view them as failed goths... which is of course not true, as failed goths tend to become metallers like me. sweatdrop

of course he hasn't met one, emo is short for emotive hardcore, which is music, well people consider it music, i don't, but that's beyond the point.

Emo should not have anything to do with a scene, it is a genre of music. Emo is not short for Emotional, that wouldn't make sense because all music is emotional of a sort. Emo is short for Emotive Hardcore, wich is a none political hardcore punk with more emotional lyrics from the DC Scene of the 80's.
Some emo bands are: Rites of Spring, Hot Cross, Orchid, Transistor Transistor, La Quiete, pg.99, Amanda Woodward, Envyand Circle Takes the Square.
Bands that are somehow confused with emo but are most certainly not: Taking Back Sunday, Fall Out Boy, My Bloody Valentine, My Chemical Romance, The Used, Simple Plan, Panic! At The Disco and Matchbook Romance.

I cant stand it. Its like they are SO convinced that emos dont have actual problems. They do.
It pisses me off whenever ANYONE says anything bad about them. Im the kind of person who asks: "Have you hugged an Emo kid today?" Some of my friends are emo. I hug them because I dont want them to be hurt or sad.
Those people are one of the reasons why emos are emo.

Anyways, My Chemical Romance
is NOT emo.
It's a very varied genre of punk/rock/pop/alternative.
People who call MCR emo need to die.. They are not punk, nor are they rock. As the lead singer, that all round fool of a man says, they 'are violent pop'. I can live with that description as it means they have nothing to do with anything good and pure.
And yes, Gerard Way has said before that it's based on punk rock
with a pop sound..
It doesn't really even have a genre.
It was inspired by Iron Maiden and The Misfits..
Metal and Punk.
I know a shitload more about MCR than you..
