Does anyone have tips on converting guardsmen into storm troopers?
My first thought was to use guitar wire and the vox's and model them into gaint backpack bateries with power cables. ANy suggestion to add on to make them look good?

i used green stuff and vox-casters for mine. they're not done yet though.
i green stuffed a wire or two from the lasguns into the vox on their backs (which i cut the circular antenna off) and green stuffed some knee pads and i still need to do the gloves as well as the masks.
(should this be in the modeling/painting advice thread?)

The beauty is, storm troopers don't have to look like Kasrkin. Nor do they really need hellguns with the power supply strapped to their backs. You could always take a box or two of scouts, build those with bolters, hack the bolters apart, add in proper lasgun parts and give them suitable heads and Guard kit.

I've seen a good plastic storm trooper made from a cadian guardsman, all that was needed was a vox as backpack, wire to the gun, and greenstuffed armour on the knees, elbows and lower arms, and maybe fix a small mask as well.

I made a mask for my Veterans from a space marine helmet and a guard helmet, looks something like this.

Just cut-and-paste and filling gaps with greenstuff.

Here's a random pic I found with said heads:

Exchange the Tau-esqe backpack for a vox set or something like it, and you're sorted. razz

i've finished doing mine, all they need now is vox-casters.
i bulked out the arms so it looks like carapace, green stuffed masks on to them and green stuffed wires from their las guns as well as giving the Sargent/captain/whatever a cap and all the models knee pads.

I'm making a guardsman right now who may help you get some ideas..

That is still as it was in a very rough stage.
But it's basically a cadian helmet [One of the loose ones] with the vox mouthpiece [That had been glued to the front of an eldar helmet, but that may as well be ignored.. Can't even be seen.]
Then eyes made out of the ring of a chaos bezerkers grenade and.. Eh something or other.

Converting guns is easy, and you could even try making whole new ones yourself.
