Hello! If you went to the Ancient Prophecy Sneak Peek like I did, you might have heard mention about the new Tournament Format called the "Pegasus League". This is a new format that has some promise to be sure! Here's info copy/pasted from a thread on another website:

----------------

This is a new league program, which will be offered to Official Tournament Stores. It is designed to give players a completely new experience in dueling every month, by having a brand new format each and every month. Players who enjoy deckbuilding, creative thinking and coming up with new strategies are going to enjoy this league. Players who are tired of having to choose between playing a certain dominant deck and not doing well in their local tournaments, are going to enjoy this league. Playing in this league will earn you OP support packs (Champion Packs, Turbo Packs.)

Alongside the league program, we will include Tournaments with different prizing, to be run at conventions and the like. These Deck Challenge tournaments will feature a different, specific format for each tournament. The inaugural tournament, which will be run at Gen Con, features the following format: Traditional, following the card list for Traditional Format as found on yugioh-card.com. In addition, all cards in your Deck, including the Side and Extra Deck. must be the same rarity.

Because Pegasus liked changing the rules all the time. Every month for league, and every single tournament, will have a different format with different rules.

It is based on the rarity of the card. If the card is a parallel rare card, it belongs with only other parallel rare cards. If the promo is a Super rare, it belongs with the other Super rares. And so forth.

Ultimate Rares are Ultimate Rares. Secret Rares are Secret Rares. Commons are Commons, etc. How the card was released is not the important factor, all of the foil/rarity treatments must be identical.

You may not substitute a card of a different rarity, even if that card exists in another rarity - so you cannot use an Ultimate Rare Treeborn Frog if you are playing a deck made of only rares. You have to have the Rare version.

League prizes - Champion/Turbo packs, like local tournaments.

Deck Challenge Tournaments - Like the tournaments themselves, prizing changes.

The card must have been released in the rarity you have chosen, not modified to become such.

Official tournament stores will have the option to run Pegasus League, they may also like to do additional tournaments if it proves popular. Konami will provide formats, Operations documents, and online promotion of each month's events - it will be up to the stores to decide if they want to host them.

OP here at KDE would like to see Deck Challenge events added onto the event schedules of other premier level events, such as SJCs and so forth.

-------------

So what I can tell is that the first Pegasus League tournament will have the following rules:

-Traditional Format
-Same Rarity Cards Only

...and these rules will change every month, from what I have heard.

Seems like it'd be fun yet challenging at the same time. Also, with a lot of the banned cards from Advanced Format being allowed in decks, it could provide for some never-before-seen strategies! Anyone excited about this like I am?

i just see this being another way for them to make even more money because now all the good cards everyone is going to want every rarity so they can use them more offten i love deck building but this seems way off track i atleast like to play with the deck and keep changeing it around to make it better instead in this format u only get a couple of tries to make the deck good then its useless for the next tournament....i really dont like it

I love this format. For duellists who have over 2000 different cards, this format will allow us to make interesting decks using cards we haven't used for years, and with this rarity rule we don't need to worry about most FTK, OTK, Chaos decks. I bet most people would run common decks as most meta cards were rereleased in structure decks as common.

Looks promising enough. I'd give it a try.

Don't misunderstand. You can build a commons-exclusive deck with the cards you already have and it would work probably just as good as a deck that is super rare-exclusive.

Anata wa watashi ga zutto mae ni "sayounara" to yutta hito wo omoidasaseru.

I'm smelling a Gadget and Morphtronic dominance already.

IE: most of them were released as commons; as were most of their support .

Thus, I will try and dig up some of my old cards to pwn with.
You remind me of someone I said goodbye to a long time ago.

Monarch or Magical OTK

I know that super rare won 1st and 2nd and commons won 3rd.

Yeah. This format does potentially bring back some of the popular killer decks. Cyber Stein, Magical Scientist, Chaos (to an extent), Yata-Lock, Butterfly Dagger, etc.

So I daresay, let the games begin!
