Forge a Path
When our paths wander and lead us astray,
I’ll forge a path to you.
No matter which obstacle might delay,
I’ll forge a path to you.
For we are people whose souls never die;
Though we may never all see eye to eye,
On the horizon where earth meets the sky
I’ll forge a path to you.
I do not know when I’ll come back again,
So spare me no large concern.
I cannot tell what I’ll find in the end,
But I will not pass my turn.
For we are people who live life to dance,
Leaping and stepping, our own lives enhance;
And we may never get more than one chance
To gather what we must learn.
And when I ache from the longing for you,
I will not yield my pride.
There is no act any person could do
To make me break my stride.
For we are people determined to find,
Searching and stretching the bounds of our minds,
Something for which our whole lives have been primed:
Worth which we feel inside.
When our roads fork and no longer converge,
I’ll forge a path to you.
Even though wickedness may yet emerge,
I’ll forge a path to you.
For we are people who’ve learned in the end
That on each other it’s safe to depend,
And I would never give that up, my friend;
I’ll forge a path to you.
When our paths wander and lead us astray,
I’ll forge a path to you.
No matter which obstacle might delay,
I’ll forge a path to you.
For we are people whose souls never die;
Though we may never all see eye to eye,
On the horizon where earth meets the sky
I’ll forge a path to you.
I do not know when I’ll come back again,
So spare me no large concern.
