Is editing screenshots OKSAY?

Yea i have a few questions about editing screenshots from animes (Helped me, kinda, with drawing in paint) I have a few examples i did, (their old!!!!)

Her name is Rinji Suno (supose to sound like from Japan)

But i know the fanart is wrong, but im only talking about Screenshots, Naruto is the most popular, But i mean is it okay? Bc on youtube i been getting comments from a girl, and she took my RPC, i dont find it right by JUST taking her D':, but yeah just an opened mind Queston

Editing screenshots is not okay here, that's for sure.

For the purpose of discussion, sure. (Please link to images in the discussion forum though. I'll fix it for you.) But let's not see any of that in the mentee/mentor forums, please.

The fact remains, no matter how you flip it, you did not create the art. You altered someone else's.

Fanart is a little different. There are fanartists like our own Tirael, who makes original fanart. There are many many many people that make original fanart. They just can't make any claims on anything besides the physical picture. They can say "I drew this", but not "This is 100% mine." And the rights to how you can publish it legally is with the original owner. If Kishimoto said, "No fanart." Then guess what? You can't legally do it. (Kind of like the Anne Rice deal.)

All gaia avatar art is fanart. We do a lot of it here. All fandoms come with art. It's one of the great things about being a fan and being an artist. Like fanfiction. Do I feel it's wrong to make it? No, of course not. Do I feel it's wrong to sell it. That's kind of a grey area. It depends on the originality of the artist's work. Do I think it's wrong to say "this is totally mine?" Hell's yeah.
